Lion hunting is also an option.
But I don’t know a single person who does it.
We have more turkeys than you can shake a stick at in eastern OK. If there’s public land of any acreage, there’s turkeys there. I’m sure someone will come along and say I’m full of it. But I’m serious.I can't believe that... are there just not many around? Turkey season is a big deal here in AR.

The farm I hunt has a lot of turkeys in the fall and winter. They hit the cattle feeders pretty hard, but that doesn't guarantee that they will be there in April. Last year I played with one bird on the farm after seeing 2 or 3 flocks of 30 birds back in December and January. The same happened on a farm that I hunted in Missouri. The owner counted 70+ birds in his pasture at one time when the snow was on. I went up there 3 months later and heard 3 gobblers in 2 days and all of them were off of that 900 acre farm. A flock can cover several miles.Turkey hunting is something I have never done and would like to start.
A few guys in my lease chase them and I'm planning to try to go with them soon.
Our lease has a lot of them. It's nothing to be deer hunting and have a dozen turkeys come in and eat your corn for a while.
I'm with you on turkey meat...yuk! Nothing I like better than killing coyotes. They get a lot of rabbits and grouse, perhaps woodcock too.Every year i shoot about 5,000 rounds of centerfire ammo and a couple thousand rounds of .22. Don't hunt turkeys because we don't eat them: No one wants a turkey. Spend a lot of time shooting and trapping wild hogs. Will purchase a better predator caller and spend more time killing coyotes.

I know a guy who bought 20 acres last year and got enough money from logging to pay for it. Plus it opened it up enough to get some second growth in a year or two. Good browse.Manage your deer hunting property.
Take a tomahawk or hand ax and cut the vines that grow on the trees. Cut them off at the ground.
Scout for mature timber to sell. The price is good right now. You might be surprised by learn what it is worth. I did a selective harvest on my timber.

Mark some trees for firewood and cut them down before the sap starts to run.
Its my opinion that new growth, brushy woods hold more deer than park type timber.I know a guy who bought 20 acres last year and got enough money from logging to pay for it. Plus it opened it up enough to get some second growth in a year or two. Good browse.
