I think the last time I bought .22 LR ammunition I paid a little over 4 cents a round. I really don’t have it in me to pay over a nickel a round.
 
For years I worked as the gunsmith for a local shop. I always went to Gun Shows and picked up part boxes and cheap ammo of any caliber for test firing. Also cheap ammo for my personal use. When I retired I donated a lot of this ammo to the shop for their use. Do to my disabilities I have pretty much stopped shooting . I kept a lot of personal use ammo including .22 RF that I bought on sale at Cabela's for $7.77 a brick. Sold most all my guns, and gave away most all my ammo to friends and relatives. Only kept a couple guns for HD/SD and some ammo to feed them. I miss shooting but life feeds you what it wants to and one has to accept that fact. I am glad I don't have to feed my guns with expensive ammo like is going on now. I was a re-loader and cast my own bullets at one time, about 2 cents a round for .38/.357 ,but now component cost is much higher as well. Today the shooting sports are harder to maintain for many reasons. I am saddened by what is going on and by the even more challenges coming.
 
The struggle is real, but so is the determination. I am sorry about your physical challenges, mnrivrat, but you also represent the best of the sport by passing it on and helping others to enjoy. Going forward, it won't be as easy and simple as it once was, but if we help each other and emphasize similarities rather than differences, it will get better in some ways if not all. Meanwhile, I will buy domestic ammo in reasonable amounts and try to note progress when I see it.
 
I bought a brick of Armscor 22 lr at Dunham's sports the other week for $23. I see on gunbroker the same Armscor 22 lr starting bid $120, buy now $140 + shipping $30. And others even higher. I'd hang my guns on the wall and never take them down before I'd pay that price. I've always thought gunbroker prices were high and this proves my point. Think I will stay away from gunbroker from now on. More visits to Dunham's.
 
It's funny. I've been monitoring the online 22lr market for a few months (since it was sub 10c last year) and it was as high as 30c in Dec/Jan, but this week (I think yesterday or today) has dropped to sub 20c which I found very hopeful. It's gone down a cent or two every week as supply is catching up (imo). Looking forward to being able to buy sub 10c rounds again... Hopefully... :)
 
Couple weeks ago saw Herters .22 325 packs at Cabela's for $24. Passed cause it's not one of my brands ( wife says I'm an ammo snob ). Same day picked up 5 Win White box 9mm 50/rds/bx for $15 ea.

It's out there and not everyone's gouging.
 
I just got a text from Target Sports about a half hour ago. CCI Blazer back in stock. Went to see what it was going for, and it was already sold out.

Price? 99.99/500, and I think that was my member price.
 
For 22LR? I like TSUSA but seriously? have they just gone down the CTD rabbit hole?
 
I dont think so. If you look at Ammo Seek, the cheapest is PSA at $15 a 50 round box. And $0.15 a round is the cheapest price, and it goes up quickly from there.
 
Last time I bought a case of Blazer it was under $20/brick and that wasn't too long ago.
Probably in the past 3 years.
Had enough CCI STD and MiniMags but at under $20/brick for blasting ammo...
 
I bought couple of cases of Blazers from TS a little over a year ago. Going rate then was $174/5000.
 
Yesterday lgs had 50 rd boxes of old cci for $14.00. Another lgs had one 50 rd box of Eley something or other that was $165.00! We can hope that all the folks who continue to believe that "it will get better" are right, but then there is that promise traitor joe made to all of his sheeple about a $45.00 per/box tax on ammunition.

There are over 8 million new gun owners in the last year, if each one of them purchased 2 to 3 boxes then you have over 1 billion rounds. With all of the unrest you probably have millions shooting more, another few billion rounds. A few million concerned about a anti gun/freedom president and congress and you have another few billion rounds. Prices are going to go up. LGS now can't get a steady supply but they still have bills to pay, are going to raise the prices on what they can get.

I have been hearing folks in the know say for the last 4 years stock up while it's cheap. Now we have a lot of long time gun owners who didn't stock up complaining about prices. saying things like if we would stop paying these prices then they would go down, but what they mean is if we did not have all these new shooters and everyone else would give up their guns then they could go back to cheap ammo and only buying when they wanted too.

The reality is we are in this for a few years until supply catches up with demand, and us complaining about new shooters or people stockpiling does nothing help.
