I found a decent deal on a nitrogen spring powered air rifle. How do these do compared to spring powered rifles?

Do the nitrogen ones have a shorter life span? Is the recoil enough that I would be limited to iron sights?

I have some gas springs that are over 35 years old, made long before air gun makers started
using them, and they work fine.
Coil springs over time take a "set" and settle out after shooting a long time.
Pound for pound a gas spring will give higher performance over a steel spring.

They do seem to be harder on scopes than metal springs, but there are scopes out there that will stand up to them.
