Primer and Powder "club"

Is anyone interested in acquiring whatever powder and primers you can get your hands on and then have a gentleman's agreement to trade it amongst ourselves at the purchase price plus shipping?

There are times I see powders I don't use, or for instance I see large rifle primers that I don't need but I'd buy them if someone needed them.

Maybe create a list of wants/needs?

I was chasing SPP today, of course when I got to it they were no longer available

Thoughts?

One Word; Hazmat.

That’s likely because you are new to the game or are used to microwaved popcorn and other forms of instant gratification. Buy a suppressor, SBR or machinegun, you’ll be able to feed them by the time you get the approval back. Maybe have a pistol or rifle built by one of the top builders where there is more than a year waiting list.

One positive about all the folks that decided to get in at the height of this panic is, everyone should learn the same lesson others have in past panics but right from the start.

The stuff is out there, just look at the other people buying and selling stuff they don’t need on auction sites, to people buying in panic mode at 5x or higher mark up.

During the last panic (Obama re-election/Sandyhook) I listed a Dillon 650 on eBay that went up to $1840, I didn’t set the stupid price, that’s just what at least two people in a panic/rush came to because At the time Dillon had a 24 week lead time on 650’s. 3 weeks later I had a new 1050, bullet feeder and a little cash left over. Be calm and use your head.

Not new to the game.I don't need to explain myself or why I don't believe this is getting better anytime soon. You have your "needs" I have mine.

Supplies are like cash flow, the more streams of it you have the less susceptibility you have to market fluctuations. I'm not going to beat my chest and tell you what supplies I have on hand, I was simply looking for something that would be mutually beneficial to the members of this group.

Your pompous attitude and condescending comments have convinced me that you are very smart and important, Said no one ever.

Which class of FFL is needed to mail primers and powders? Or is it a different class of license? One of the local FFLs to me is a manufacturer and can mail explosives. They have FFL's 01, 02, and 07, at least. I haven't asked yet if they will mail primers or powder for me but I'm pretty sure it would be an imposition on them to do so.

I think its just certified to ship and pack hazmat no FFL as far as my understanding but this all changed at the first of the year.

It's not an FFL thing, it's HazMat (Hazardous Materials). I used to be certified to ship Haz as part of my job with a company. Various chemicals and compositions in both liquid and solid format (gas also) ship under a HazMat label.

To ship primers you need to be certified as a HazMat shipper. To do that requires a whole bunch of annual hoop jumping and fees that make it completely unfeasible for regular citizens who are not being trained by a company. If you would like to look up the requirements they are available from the DOT.

I am still trained annually on HazMat today but I am now only considered HazMat "aware", not "ceritified".

I know they have shipped loaded ammo from one of their shops to the others so they are probably up-to-date one the changes. They are an 07 manufacturer (guns and ammo) and ship to police agencies as well but I have not heard of them shipping for customers, just to their customers.

Loaded ammo is not HazMat. It used to (until January 2021) fall under ORM-D. It now ships under a Dangerous Goods label after ORM-D was folded into that category. The marking requirements are different. Anyone can ship properly marked Dangerous Goods containers - just NOT through USPS. In fact I just shipped some ammo to a forum member recently using FedEx (and the appropriate white-on-black diamond labels).

I’m in! I live in Central Mississippi. Looking for some small magnum pistol primers. I’ve got SP,SR, LR and LP to trade.

I wonder how many components are stashed away that’ll never be used because they were bought in a panic, not because they were actually needed, and when supplies loosen up it’s forgotten about.
