So, I have a CZ SP-01 that I former gunsmith friend did in "distressed finish",...something I wanted several years back. Today, I'm more interested in classy looking finishes and was thinking about doing the following in Cerakote finish, and adding a semi-gloss clear over it all:

Frame: Tungsten
Slide: Stainless

If you have something that is classy looking that you would think better than this, please feel free to post it here [pics if you have them].

I'm posting what it currently looks like [except for the grips, which are a medium brown wood, which will be going on the new colors I choose].

I doubt the value is going to change much from current condition to a new color coating finish. Once the factory finish is removed, value as a shooter is all that's left.

Thanks for the input so far, guys. As for "what it might be worth", I'm not really considering selling this, just interested in what might be more along what I'm wanting now. The other option would be to go ahead and sell this one and get another one and set it up with the SAO trigger and comp hammer. Obviously, leaving it black at that point.

What I've thought is that colored Cerakote finishes tend to get outdated. All black will be timeless and you change out the grips to add different schemes and looks to the gun. Also, colored finishes really limit your market. You'll have to find someone who has similar tastes as you as opposed to having interest from everyone. Just my thoughts. I have two cerakoted ARs and I wished I would have left them black.

Found that pic on the internet searching for a polished blued CZ75. Sexy ain’t it?
I was going to be REAL jealous if that was yours. Since it belongs to some unknown person, I can live with it. ;)

Looks like it's been worked over in addition to the finish. Nice.

Judging by the hammer but real tattletale is the accubushing. That's a CZ custom out of Mesa, AZ only touch there.

That battleworn scheme is like a faux patina on a hotrod, why spend all that time and money to make it look like a rusty POS?

I have a transitional CZ 75 what was an import turn in, finish was gone and looked like hell. I went with a burnt midnight bronze lower, burnt bronze upper and black controls. To me it looks good and classy.

You could spend the same kind of money on doing cerakote as you would with a hard chrome finish.
Am sending a PCR to get chromed, not that much more in cost.

Just a question about "hard chrome finish". Does that mean it is going to be silver and shiny? I'm not a fan of that look.

Yep, that's what hard chrome usually looks like. It will certainly be silver, and may have a satin finish or a gloss finish. Hard chrome and nickel both have always been a bit too gaudy for me.

Yeah, I'm not after a gaudy pistol

I might just sell this and start over again. Maybe just forget the idea of a "Campfire Gun", and just get a P-09. I had one once and it actually shot better than the SP-01, and was more accurate for me.

Am doing the brushed flats matte rounds. Far from gaudy.
This Dan Wesson is pretty close.
What type finish do you think a semi gloss stainless cerakote is gonna look like?

bannockburn, that actually looks really nice! So I guess they can do satin finishes very well. I might consider it. Would look nice with the medium colored wood grips I have!

I sort of think a hard chrome finish is like, in a way, your armor plating your gun. Had this done probably around 40 years ago and it still looks as new as the day I got it back from Metalife!

So, are all their finishes going to be basically silver, or do they have the ability to make it a bit darker?
