3 New Primer factory being built

Think in these terms. Of the untold millions of primers, ammunition and guns that have gone into some ones stash, private citizen or business looking to make a profit, how many are going to be dumped back in the market once supply meets demand. We just might windup in a surplus situation not only in components but ammunition and guns as well.

Speak for yourself. I seem to have no problem burning up components.

100% agree, price of guns are coming down and my local shop is getting in plenty of once fired guns. Picked up a Colt Defender, recent model, for $800. Not the best deal but I thought it was fare.

When I was still shopping for reloading equipment, I put a lot of stuff on ebay watch lists. Stuff that 2 months ago was sky high is going begging now. Various things like powder scales. I bid on a couple Lyman D7 powder scales that eventually sold for something like $80. Saw a similar one the other day sell for $21. New Forster co-axial presses with ask prices around $695 ($350 normal retail) and higher......now have buy it now prices around $495 and lower. When RCBS started making product like dies, case trimmers, uniflows, etc. available on their own website, at normal retail prices, took the wind out of a lot of inflated sails on ebay. Seems the crush has eased.

Yeah! looks like everything is coming back to normal prices again.

Remington is already back. Midway has already gotten 2 shipments of rem primers that I know of with in the last 6 weeks.
I’m not buying from Midway for along time. Reloader and gunsmiths were once their backbone business. I guess they got new management now.

$100+ for shiped primers. no way man

Some of you guys are smoking something:)

Like the Northfork primers, I want story about new factories to be true, but show me photos of actual construction sites, PA releases from companies having factories built, etc.

A couple of weeks ago, the Vista CEO went out of his way to announce Remington was back and making ammunition 24x7. But recall in his earlier video he specifically mentioned no new factories would be built?

If they were, wouldn’t it stand to reason there’d be some public pronouncement?

That talk show host doesn't site a single source for the "three primer factories" that he claims are under construction. Until someone can provide credible details, this is just wishful thinking.

I would be skeptical too but, I know Tom Grisham don’t say stuff for 3-5 weeks straight without insider info.

Besides, if the CEO’s and overlords would just say... don’t fear, we are building 3 new primer factories... How would they justify $50/9mm? The shareholders would vote them off quick.

I would reluctantly pay $75 per 1,000 after I checked all the brick and mortar stores. But it's not going to be 75.
Just a thousand from midway would be about $80 with sales tax, plus I think $12 for their hazmat fee. So that's $92 just to order a thousand. I'm sure it's a limit of one per customer.
Not interested in paying $92 per thousand.

Remember the days when you can go a Midway and click on the 75% off discount area and get all the good stuff nobody wanted????

good ole’ days

Exactly what happened after the last presidential election

After what happened with primer prices in 2018/2019 I'd be hesitant to be spending the money on a new plant. There's a lot of new shooters out there, but the business model is so dependent on political winds and the current supply and demand environment is due to a combination of Covid, social unrest, and the change in the president. Situations like that don't happen very often.

If Grisham has known for 3-5 weeks that 3 “majors” are building primer factories, wouldn’t he also know which 3 majors? I hope he’s right, but if he hasn’t named them by now, I’m skeptical. He wouldn’t be the first in our community to repeat hopeful rumors.

All good! midway has primers for $75!

Interesting point re stockholders but with a different result I hadn’t thought of before—any expenditure of significance by a publicly traded company must be reported to the stockholders via the quarterly reports to the SEC. A CAPEX investment cannot be hidden in any practical sense and certainly not in a legal one.
