Why guy a gun when you can't buy ammo? Anybody home there?
Sometimes, that's the best time to buy. You come across a nice deal on something considered relatively useless, and then speculate that the market will resolve that issue.
It depends on the purpose of buying and owning said firearm, I guess. My defensive needs honestly were met before Obama ever took office. I've added stuff recently that seemed prudent (the AR for example), but that's also another way of saying I decided I wanted another toy. I've had a 9mm pistol, a 12 gauge pump and an SKS for a couple decades now.
You may or may not know this, but the French had some neat pistols going into WW2. One model directly evolved into the Sig P210 later on, almost an exact copy- but the French used an obscure caliber. The pistols were basically useless as shooting instruments, even at the range, unless you figured out how to cut the brass right and make some 7.65 French Longue. I watched a few come and go on AuctionArms, for barely over $100, but never pulled the trigger on them. The S.A.C.M., I believe it's called. It was never worth anything, because nobody EVER made that ammo other than the French. If you were lucky, you could get some old ammo (all duds), and take some measurements, and guesstimate about what was required. We're not talking obscure, we're talking
I kick myself now, because of something I came across while hunting down another obscure caliber (9x23 Largo). There's a specialty ammo shop that I found for the Largo, with reasonable enough prices (at/under 60 cents a rd). I know they actually make ammo, because I received a partial shipment of an order, before their supplies of components ran out.
They make ammo in 7.65 French Longue for $26 a box, new brass. There's a lot of posted reviews, it runs those guns great. The last time I saw those guns, they were now running over $700-800.
**Not my gun, but I want it
