I recently discovered a crack in the upper of my SWD M11/9. It is just below the ejection port, cracked completely, through and through. Can this be re-welded? Or just easier to buy a complete new barrelled upper? Is there a good source for OEM MAC, SWD, and/or Cobray parts? ....... specifically, a new barrelled upper for my SWD M11/9 SMG?

I had the same thing happen with mine, but it was back in the 80's and they were still making guns and parts were readily available. I went the replacement route, as they were cheap (around $50) and it was easy.

I found out pretty quick the M11/9mm's were OK with standard velocity ammo, but the hotter SMG stuff wasnt good for them. What you see above happened with some surplus SMG 9mm that was readily available at the time, and it took less than a case to do it.

The first thing to go was the charging knob sheared off, and the way the gun ran should probably been an indicator that things might have been a bit to warm. It ran a good bit quicker and you really felt it in your cheek through the stock arm.

I stopped using the hotter ammo with the replacement and got another 30 years out of the gun without any problems before I sold it.

Can anyone recommend a good source for OEM Cobray, SWD, MAC, etc parts? I’ve heard that complete replacement barreled uppers for these aren’t too expensive, but have yet to find a source for them.
