I agree. I chose bantam sized grips for this one to maintain the proportions. The 2.5 inch 686 is among the most aesthetically pleasing of all the DA revolvers. The height and length are in perfect proportion, at least to me.
I have a rubber bantam, an old uncle Mike’s boot grip, and the pachmayr boot grip. All provide that well proportioned look. Yours are sharp, particularly with the S&W logo. The 2.5 inch 686 is among the most aesthetically pleasing of all the DA revolvers. The height and length are in perfect proportion, at least to me.
I walked into a gun shop that I don't get to real often back in 2017 and headed to the used gun showcase as usual. Was surprised and excited to see this 686 snub in the case. It was wearing a rubber band bantam grip. I REALLY got excited when I saw the $549.99 price tag, but we have a 6% sales tax and I am frugal so I offered $500 cash. The guy behind the counter came back with, $515 cash and it's yours. I paid the $545.90 total and probably blinded the guy with the smile on my face. Got the grips last year on EBay.@Jonesy814 I like your 442 grips.
Nice job on those photos. Both guns look great.
I don’t think I have ever seen a 2.5” model 686 in real life, nor a 586 for that matter. Though I would like to.
The only thing better than a 686 snub like mine is a prelock model like yours
