So i just bought this Rifle yesturday. Always wanted a winchester/Henry lever action style rifle. Cabelas had a bunch but the only Brass framed were a brand new 45LC big boy henry.. and a used 44 magnum big boy.
I opted to get the used one. The features on it. Show me its an older one. Probably made 10-15+ years ago. All the newer ones from videos 7-10 years ago show the modern made in USA stamping. And the scope sight mounts on the brass frame.. and the way they stamp the serial number.
Mine has the made in NY stamping and no scope mounts. And so forth. It was taken care of well.. only one scratch/scuff an inch long on the brass frame cover. Wood is in perfect nint condition.
Bolt has wear as the black is rubbed off in spots. But the action is smooth and the gun is tight.
Funny enough is the new one in 45lc. Had scratchs all over top and bottom on the brass. The barrel the wood had 4 deep dings in it that you can feel and see easily.
I constantly see new guns in cabelas in bad shape.. the employees dont care.. they said they stack then on a cart and toss them on top of each other in the safe every night. No wonder their new guns look worse than old ones.
Anyway.. here is a picture of it. I spent 810$ before tax. They wanted 900$ which is more thsn a new one lol.. oddly. But i got the manager to go to 810 after he realized i wasnt putting up with his car salesmen techniques. Trying to tell me someone else just happened to called about it the same day i did.
And how easily hed sell it. and how stock is all gone. Told him. Look im here now.. not the other guy.. many places online have em new in stock for 850-860$ and we cordially argued over it lol. But he did 810$ so i feel i got a good deal.
Spent 300$ on 300 rounds.. half 44 special half 44 magnum. Not sure ehich ammo will run better so i got both. Ungortunatly no one locally has 44 mag so i had to order online.
Anyway. Here are a fee pics. And pics of it with my 1851 navy.
Only thing i gatta figure out is how or if i should polish the brass.. its pretty dull need a good polish.. but maybe i should leave the age on it.
