I'm picking up a used Henry Big Boy 45LC soon, and had some questions.

1) The price is $750, but looks brand new. How's the price?

2) Are there any areas Henry's that might be of concern on the used market? What should I pay close attention to?

The action is very, very smooth; much smoother than the new Henry's on the rack next to it (and they were already pretty smooth). The new ones are going for $850 out the door at my local shop. All I have to compare these prices to are online prices...which are always going to be lower than local shops...but how would you compare this price to your own local stop-an-shops?

As always, I appreciate THR's input. You've helped me through more than just a few dilemmas. Haha.

About what I got mine for (used).

Very nice rifle and Henry warrantee's the rifle regardless of owner.

Quality rifle; Have never regreted getting mine.

Probably a good

price for a used one, considering their retail price. The great thing is that you can probably sell it in a couple years, when a conservative is in the WH, for around $500.

Just got myself a Big Boy! I found a real nice guy who gave me a great deal on it (+) a bunch of ammo. I'm excited to run it through the paces next week!

Put about 200 rounds through the ol' Big Boy this week, and boy am I impressed. Even with cheap factory reloads, I could shoot quarter size groups with the open sights at ~40 yards.

I can see why a lot of people like to swap out the dovetail sights. I wouldn't call them flimsy, but some people might want them to be a little more stable. For my purposes, they will do just fine :)

The only hick-up I had was on steel cased ammo. They shot well, but I really had to work the action to get them to eject.
