Do you use you collectible knives, for instance a $ 500 knife ?

While they were not over $500 and really were great bargains IMHO . So much so I ended up with half a dozen of various genre from Sam1911 here on THR . I used these two pretty heavily. The spooge on the black bladed knife solved the rusting problem and has held up to heavy wood type use but comes off around things like cutting bailing wire out of tractor hubs ect. which is to be expected of such abuse. The staining on the semi Bolo knife which is my truck survival blade now was stained using it to cut viney plants and chop up meat and not wash with soap and water intime to prevent staining. Still if I had to "survive" it would rate right up with the best possible equiptment to have, I think it was named "Camp Defender" , it been awhile.

When I first got it :

What I bought it for was my survival pack I keep in my truck bed locked box . Enough survival stuff to keep going for a while and I picked that knife for the one that lives there along with a couple smaller ones , of course a SAK !

I also use this one working on a ranch, this is an old picture when new 10 years ago. Fowler described it as a "Heavy Duty knife full guaranty against breakage" , its thicker than 1/4" on the spine ! I use it for anything that I can conceivably use a knife for. It sharpens really easily and nicely and opens any beer bottle as a PLUS ! :) I did request his hidden pin Cocobolo grips for it instead of G10 which I probably should have , but the Cocobolo are holding up just scratched some

I've carried and used the Spyderco Centofantes which are collectible these days. Mine are pretty well used. Many of the custom knives I've had didn't see use. A few cut envelopes and such but largely they didn't serve as their purpose intended. Any of the ones I've made are carried with the intent for use.The customs that I've not been able to sell I'll put into the rotation. Like this Jim Martin:

This is my EDC knife the past 3 years back when it was newish:

I have a Grayman "West Nile Warrior" knife that was over $200 & I have most definitely used it. I've taken it camping & chopped all kinds wood with it. It's a beast of a blade for sure.
