Picked up a Traditions kit a while back & It's getting close to coming together. So far I've cut some of the flare off the end of the barrel to get it more in proportion to the .54 bore, filed & sanded all the stupid warnings off the barrel that were a lot deeper than I thought they would be & did a color case hardened finish patina effect using color bluing gels from SteelFX.
Got the stock shaped & added some finger grooves on the forehand for a better hold & had some inlay stuff left over from a guitar project & picked ups skull/crossbones pearl inlay to give it a little pirate flavor.
Just working on the tru-oil finish & aging some brass parts-Its been a great project so far I always learn something doing them.
Initial mock up
here's one of my test pieces of steel playing with the metal colors
Inlay work
