3913 Smith and Wesson

When I was in Law Enforcement I carried a Model 3913 in addition to my issued Model 19. The Model 19 was on my right hip. The Model 3913 rode in a rough out iwb holster on the straps of my vest under my uniform shirt.

I still have it, but neither carry it nor shoot it.

I once owned a beautiful model 19. It was one of the very favorite handguns I've ever had. The woman I was married to at the time had a rogue 20 year old son that stole it from me. It helped me decide to get out of that marriage. Sad but true. Oh by the way he's in The State Penitentiary in Nashville these days for unrelated crimes. Have a good day.

One of the best semi autos that SW made, I have on and regret selling the LS version. I actually liked that one better than the non LS. I did not care it said lady on it. I had several Lady Smith revolvers as well. My Wife just wasn't into them so they are gone as well.
Still have a picture:)

I'm a fan of S&W pistols too.
639?

I got a used 3913 years ago and really like it. Like a dummy, I never stocked up on OEM mags before they stopped making them. Now they’re hard to find and used ones have become somewhat pricey. I think ProMag sells their own aftermarket mags for them, though.

I have a 4013, the stainless/alloy .40 S&W version. The gun is a bit snappy in recoil, I bet the 9mm version is just about right for it. :)

They’re cool guns, I wouldn’t pass on a nice 3913 like that one either. Great pickup .

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance to hit the range.

Stay safe.

Had a 3913; buddy still has it. Nice gun, but I finally got away from DA/SA for carry. Did use it to kill a likely rabid Red Fox that walked up to me in broad daylight. Twice. Second visit I lit him up.
For the OP, nice catch; enjoy.

The M58 seems to be more abundant,..

Actually it was their 59 series. The 58 was their41 Mag revolver.

We carriers the 659 starting in 84 and continued up until the 4006 ended production.
The early versions were rough and the triggers not at all smooth out of the box. they got progressively better as the series developed.
The biggest problem we had was frames cracking at the rail on low round count guns in the second series. 659 and 669 especially. Back them the frame was replaced with a 3rd Gen and the SN copied. that is no longer permitted and S&W no longer will honor the Lifetime Warranty as parts are long gone. A switch was made about 15 years ago to the Glock 23....which the best thing that can be said for it is it's possible to use on and off duty saving the purchase one an additional firearm.

My first off duty was a M39. Worked great with hardball. A bit finnicky with hp which in those days was limited in variety. At some point I carried almost every SA in their catalog on or off duty.

They didn't have a choice as the production stopped. The Sig 365 was recently approved. The Kahr was a disaster with so many malfunctioning that the factory sent a repair trailer to Cavin Point to make the modifications.

I was more referencing the 39XX compact series replacement in S&W line-up by the Shield, not specifically NYPD service.

Will do. I love the 40. I've got a Smith Sigma in 40. I've got a real thing for the 10mm also and own a couple of 1911 clones in that caliber.

Kind of off the subject but Smith and Wesson broke ground last week here in Tennessee for their new facility. I live in Memphis in West Tennessee. Their moving to Blount County in East Tennessee just outside of Knoxville. Again off the subject but I'm a graduate of The University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
