What is the difference between the Smith & Wesson 908 and 3913 series. I can't tell the difference, except that all 908s that I've seen, except one (at Galyans) have the black finish. Does anyone know?

I have the 908S and from what I can tell (mind you I am no expert):

the 39XX series have a rounder more contoured slide, better finished in general, have Novak steel sights, maybe a safety lever on each side, steel guide rod, perhaps some cool lettering that says something like "Tactical" as well. In general most seem to say a more "finished" project.

the 908 series (908 is blue...908S is stainless) being an "economy" S&W version have a more square boxy slide, have generic polymer (plastic sights), a polymer (plastic) quide rod, single safety/decock lever on left side, and not finished quite as nicely.

Probably missed some things. Believe that they are mechanically the same using the same parts (except for the plastic guide rod) but I could very well be wrong. Someone else more versed can probably provide a better answer.

I do know that my 908S is makes absolutely no apologies whatsover...economy model or not. At 500 rounds so far not 1 single malfunction of any kind. Very accurate from a rest (my shooting skills without a rest need some work), Light and very easy to CCW. I like mine extremely well and have no reservations betting my life on it.
