I will have to check again . It said store only and my store didn’t have any .

Midway needs a copy editor. In real life both guns listed have an 8" barrel, they're Piettas. Uberti and real Colt M1861's are 7.5". Those of us who own a Pietta 1861 can spot that extra 1/2 inch at a glance from how far the barrel extends past the loading lever latch.

Not really an answer. There is no such law. That’s the point.
So NY state "law" says you can have them and not register them as long as you don't shoot them. So midway could ship them but won't because they don't want to be sued for partial liability of someone in NY actually shooting one (without registration) and the weird government holding them partly liable. Defending against weird governments costs money, and if successful, could ruin their business and the rights of people in states that don't have weird governments. Best to just avoid the hassle. Can't blame them.

I wonder if you can have them order one for you. Show it to them in the online catalogue and say "I want this. Make it happen." It might just be that inventory across the globe is low.

Months ago when midway got there last batch in they had the 58 uberti 5" casecolored I wanted really bad, by time I made some calls to friends out of state they were gone. I'd like to get a cattlemen some day but wonder if better to try and find a ruger .

A all ss 58 rem with grips made from g10 or something similar with 5" barrel.

I have the uberti ss 58 remmy. It's a fine shooter and shoots to point of aim with 35 grains of 3f and round ball. Or 250 grain rnfp and 6.3 grains red dot in Howell cylinder

Also shoots point of aim

They'll ship to me, but they won't accept returns, even if the gun is utterly unusable out of the box. I suppose I'm glad they have a good supply, but I'll have to be pretty desperate before ordering another one from them.
I consider all these italian BP guns to be assembled kits anyway. Almost none are acceptable out of the box and need work.

Exactly so, but I do have my limits. The last one I received from Midway had not only the usual stuff wrong with it, but several additional, very significant troubles which took much more than the usual effort to fix. I probably could have arranged for Uberti to replace it but really should not have had to. I continue to do usiness with Midway, but buy my BP guns elsewhere.

To be honest, I have more interest in the examples of history than firing them. Looking for a Remington 1858 right now.
I'm pretty sure I've got a brand new Pietta 1858 that the box has never been opened. I have 4 that I shoot from time to time, two have conversions in them.

I was recently gifted these two...I'm not versed in BP and don't know how much I want to be. But I like them and they both have a bit of history to me so perhaps I'll get a chance to use them. Hawes .36 and a Navy Arms .44. Better price than any sale!:D

Only had one issue with a Pietta '51 Navy. Returned it to Cabelas for a replacement which has been fine. The Pietta NMA's, at least those made the past decade, seem to be in good working order out of box. Just avoid the problem children like the 63 Pocket.

Depends on if your definition of working order is just working or actually right. Few are timed right and all can use some work and zero Ubertis have correct arbor length. Pietta are more shootable out of the box.

There was never an 1861 with an 8” barrel. I’d buy the 7.5” barrel and let the lazy version collect dust.
I'm sure the "7.5 inch barrel" is actually an 8 or 8.5" barrel. the images are identical; not that this means anything. I'm going to order the "7.5 inch" version because I don't have a replica 1861 yet. I don't imagine the non-correct-length barrel will cause me much anxiety. :D

The Pietta is an under bored '60 but the Uberti is the correct length barrel and taper.

BTW, I talked with a distributor about an Pietta BP revolver I ordered almost a year ago, wondering when I'd get it, and he said they are on a skeleton crew and the insanity we deal with here on hiring is the same there, so they concentrate on the most popular products, i.e. SAA's.
He said I would probably never get the Remington steel framed pocket .31 I ordered. I wonder if fear of the great reset is why? It would sure pour ice water on manufacturing.

I wonder if Midway would ship BP revolvers to an FFL the way Simpson's does because it is in Illinois?
It would add $20/30 to the price for your FFL holder to put it through their book but they are all "Salt of the Earth" and deserve every dollar they get. At least that way you would get it delivered near to you.
