What did you shoot today?

Finally picked up my new Springfield 2020 Waypoint this morning. I spent the better part of a year and a half trying to find a 308. Picked up a 6.5 CM a few months back and I was happy with it, but still really wanted a 308. When I found one a couple hours away, I snatched it up. Threw a Burris Veracity on top of it and headed to the range with the two Waypoints and my CMMG 6mm ARC. I got the 308 zeroed, and put fifteen to twenty rounds through the other two rifles. Man, I miss the days of plentiful ammo… 222BFA43-FB25-482C-81EE-9C531042DBFE.jpeg

PTR-91 "classic GI" model (aka "PTR 100").

I'm 66 and have never had a scope on any gun.

Oh…..this exact GI model is Back In Stock at Atlantic Firearms.:)

Buds Guns has them, known also as the "PTR 100", but a few other retail dealers either were Not resupplied days ago, or already Sold Out.o_O

These are the only sleek (non-railed), G3-profile version, and usually sell out before the modified versions which have the tough, welded rails. Be aware---

I can’t tell you exactly how accurate, but a friend who spotted for me saw the 300, then 400-yard Gongs move last week. I have no pretensions of trying to be anything remotely similar to a Chris Kyle etc.

On a different note, am really glad that I bought a big chunk of 308 ammo when it was .50/rd ( before charges).... two months ago. You know the current prices?

If you have the ammo factor covered and you enjoy HK ergos (I’m a lefty, and guns don't need to adjust to me), then you would probably enjoy them.

* I can describe a technique to better use the stock trigger, in a PM. Many people don't even bother to try.....they ship the trigger pack to Bill whoever.

A friend from Germany was unfamiliar (-personally-) with HKs, pulled on the stiff charging handle (without a comment), tried the so-so trigger, didn't have a single complaint.
He watched me shoot it then offered to buy it in case I ever want to sell it.

Had to take my CZ 452 Trainer with Leupold 3X out for a function check. I'd installed a Rifle Basix trigger because of the gritty take up in the stock trigger. The new trigger, after adjusting the weight and sear engagment, make this rifle a pleasure to shoot now. 10 shots at 50yds, on a CMP B-19 with a 7/8" X ring.

I was going to shoot my Henry Big Boy X today, but when I went to the gun closet to dig it out, I came across an unlabelled gun case that I didn't know what was in it - since I label all(?) my gun cases with their content firearm - and so I just had to open it to find out what was in there, and behold, there was my ZPAP AK in its new commie red furniture, and I just couldn't say no to such an obvious ploy by a firearm to get itself some range time. So that's what I shot today.

My three sons and i shot my new P365xl. What a great shooting pistol. We also checked the pattern on my one son’s shotgun. Turkey season is coming soon!

My shoulder hurts from firing a box of 8mm Mauser thru my 1944 German Mauser today along with my Swedish Mauser. Tried to take a few shots with my Mosin 91/30 but my shoulder was too sore from all the shooting before and last weekend. Thought I was used to real full size rifle cartridges but that 8x57 hurt a bit. Going to leave this German Mauser in the safe, the front bayonet band and barrel band wanna come off from the recoil after a few shots and I tried some steel cased ammo today. It locked the bolt up and when that was freed, the case was stuck in the chamber, so no more steel case. And I have like 100 rds of that. Sighted in my Sig AR @100 yards with the Bravo 3 3x optic. Coworker brought out his new Romanian PSL and other coworkers brought their ARs as well. We ended up being the only shooters there the last 2 hours 20220403_124841.jpg 20220403_145702.jpg

My new PTR-91 (HK-91 clone, .308), classic "GI" model. No rail (those are the GIR, A3S, A3SK etc).

My Czechpoint VZ-58 Sporter, with this same type of furniture. About 2,500 rds. with not even a Hint of any operating issue. .

No interchangeability with AK parts >> to the Disappointed hard-core AKM people with a hundred magazines << .... remember that AR-10 mags don't interchange with M1A-1 or FAL mags etc etc.

Nothing. I had to work on my bush hog this morning. After I finished I was too tired to even think about going to the range. According to the weatherguy I don't need to put any thought into shooting for the next four days at least and I have a new rifle just itching to get to the range and show me what it can do.

Took out my S&W 617 and Heritage Rough Rider today and fired 100 rounds from each. The 617 is my favorite gun and my target proved it again.

Shooting at 15 yards off hand I consistently kept all shots inside a 4 inch circle. I've played a little more with the trigger and it's now set at 7 pounds double action. It sets off all the ammo I've tried and I'm primarily using Federal BYOB bullets in it.

I also shot the Rough Rider at 15 yards. Groups weren't quite as good but I'm happy. I kept everything inside an 8 inch Shoot & See target. It's a blast to shoot. Never thought I wanted a single action revolver but for the $100 I paid for it I'm very happy.
