Maybe I should have said pigtails.Sorry…not sure what that means…
Are you saying an updated cartridge with improved long range ballistics that used faster twists and higher BC’s to produce more power and improved accuracy at extended ranges is somehow less masculine?
.308, 7mm-08, .270, .280, and 30-06 (with 150 gr. bullets) are all the same thing, not enough energy or ballistic difference between any two of them to matter at reasonable whitetail hunting ranges.
7mm-08 is the best deer cartridge ever developed, period.I feel like the 270 win is the best deer cartridge period, change my mind.

As an avid 270 fan who just purchased a 7mm-08 I will be auditing this post. I don't normally go for the shrimp action.7mm-08 is the best deer cartridge ever developed, period.
The .270 wishes it was a .280 Rem most days.
Don't blame me if you fall in love with the 7mm-08.As an avid 270 fan who just purchased a 7mm-08 I will be auditing this post. I don't normally go for the shrimp action.
I'd get smoked if I had a 15000 dollar set up in cm or anything else. That said roll up some match level 270 in a bench rifle and you'd have something to play with. It would kick and cost a lot to feed which is why you don't see them. The cartridge is capable but it's a hunter and thusly you don't see a lot of tournament set up. Doesn't mean it's no capable of match level accuracy.BC isn't everything but I am not going to argue. Why don't you enter a major match and see how you do. And why not just shoot sewing needles out of your rifle. Oh and which National match was I wrong about.
I have a press but I just havn't found the time to really get started. Also when I have been looking for bullets it seems i can get alot more .277 than .284 right now, although I'd really like to cook something up for the lightweight hunting rig i have.Don't blame me if you fall in love with the 7mm-08.
If you reload, try 120 grain Noslers or Barnes TTSX's over CFE 223. Those pills running 3200 are flat out killers.
I've seen the same. .284's are very popular, for good reason. The .270 had it's day, but it has fallen out of favor with modern day hunters.I have a press but I just havn't found the time to really get started. I don't know about being the best but its always been good enough!
Running those over Varget @ 2900 right now. My Mesa was getting 3150 with Stabal.Don't blame me if you fall in love with the 7mm-08.

Pot meet kettle lol.I just don't like it's over hype as the greatest at everything.
You mean somebody already came up with my idea?
And making a cartridge that fits in a Stanag magazine.I think the major new twist for cartridge development, is just that...the twist.
