Thoughts on .22TCM9R?

I literally saw my first-ever .22TCM just yesterday, my ffl just traded into two of them that came with a 500 round case of factory ammo. It seems like a really cool idea, but the ammo-scarcity issue kept my wallet firmly in my pocket.

They did shoot it the day before, both guys said it was LOUD and spat forth an impressive fireball in broad daylight.

Stay safe.

Yes… the fireball is crazy! I hope ARMSCOR eventually starts importing bullets (projectiles not ammo) again. Seems to have dried up. Ammo is out there at about prepandemic pricing of around $26 per box of 50. It is pricey.

Most that reload the 22TCM will use 40 grain 22 Hornet bullets. Now those won't work for the 22TCM9R since they will be too long.

22 TCM or 22 TCMR

Confused ??

JMHO but another cartridge with no purpose. I sold my FN 5.7 pistol. Thought it was cool at first then nah, to much trouble to reload.

Now I am playing with a 7.62 x 25 as I have a case of surplus ammo I bought years ago.

Then the interest will fad. Still never got into a 357 Sig:what:

The 22TCM has lots of potential, IMO, but is hobbled by
a. The 22TCM9r little brother, which is shorter to feed in 9mm conversions, but adds to confusion, inventory issues, and component challenges
b. Single source concerns for future supply and logistics
c. No rifle available that can exploit the potential.

If Tuason et al want to secure this cartridge in the annals of the classics, they need to get it chambered in many more firearms. Otherwise, it will join the ranks of the Dardick tround, the Gyro-Jet and 22 Remington Jet.
