Life is tough boys, I may miss both of them because I won’t wanna go get all the guys at the shop sick.

Make a phone call, give them a deposit over the phone and have them put one or the other tot he side. Your LGS should be good with that.

I own a blued non flat-top (new model) convertible Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt/.45 ACP. I suspect that the flat-top version is a distributor exclusive and may be a little rarer than what we think....I didn't confirm that before typing this. I have a 50th anniversary .357 flat-top and its funny how a minor design change can result in the gun being more appealing visually (at least to me).

I went off the deep end with the .327FM. As I've mentioned before on numerous threads I was always intrigued with the Blackhawk in .30 Carbine. Never did get one and stumbled across a GP100 .327FM years ago in a LGS while looking for an SP101 in said caliber. Been enamored by the .32 cal ever since.

The Single Sevens are a hoot to shoot, especially the 7.5 inch version. I think more fun than .45 Colt anyway...and I have a few of those and like them just fine. For sure the .327FM is a handloading proposition (at least currently). Powder wise its VERY economical compared to the .45 Colt. I've spent a lot of time on loading heavy cast bullets (120grain) for it. Everything from plain base, powder coated, gas checked with numerous powders. It's the most fun I've had with a particular caliber experimenting.

If you decide to buy the .327FM PM me. I'll spot you some new brass to get you going.

I would go with the 327 if only because they will be harder to find. As a reloader for all my centerfire cartridges, it's easy to find good brass and cast bullets for 32 long and magnum. I have a couple of Single-Sixes in 32 mag, one Bisley version, and have become a huge fan of 32 caliber. Plus Blackhawk 45 convertibles are much more common.

As much as I enjoy my Blackhawk convertible and NM Vaquero and T/C Contender) in 45 Colt, the scarcity of the Single-Seven would be the deciding factor.

I want a single-action sized for the 357 Magnum. What I have is a gun sized for the 45, chambered in 357. Pine Tree's investment casting process should make it economical to make more frame and cylinder sizes, but Ruger offers precious few. I realize the cylinders aren't cast, but the frame casting dictates their size. Now maybe if the Blackhawk/Vaquero featured seven 357 chambers, it would be a good size cylinder, but the barrel profile is still pretty stout. I guess that's ok.

Well, it was a hard choice but I got the single seven. I was having such trouble deciding that my wife told me to just get both but in the end I decided to save the “just get both”card for another day ;)

Having it sent to my FFL in Alabama ( I’m currently out of state)

This was a tough situation, this gun shop is packed with gems right now. If anyone wants the flattop I’d be happy to let you know where it’s at. They want $830 for it.

Alright folks, what are your favorite Bullets, powders, and loads for these things?
My plan is to use this for small game and general farm carry use. Squirrels will be my primary target but I love to experiment and I usually go heavy for caliber. I’m starting from scratch here.

Looks like S&w long and h&r mag are available right now so I’m going to get a bit of each to get me going. I plan to get some 327 when it becomes available.
I appreciate the links. Never really looked into these cartridges before, I’m on vacation and away from my loading manuals so I can’t flip through them as I usually would in this situation.

Congrats on your purchase! I think it will be perfect for a farm gun in your area, as well as being economical for when you want more than a .22, but don't want to shell out the cash for big(ger) bore ammunition.

I can't comment on loads, but I imagine a good light load would be with wadcutters which would be fun to plink with, and the 327s would be fun for coyotes up to even smaller deer.

I just ordered a Lee 2 cavity TL314-90-SWC figured I would toss it on the order with the dies just to have something on hand immediately. If I don’t like it for this application I’ll size it down to .311 and use it to replace the roundball for my small game loads in 30-30.

Does anyone have experience with the 130gn keith Bullets? I know rimrock sells them and Buffalo bore uses them in their 32h&r as well as their 327mag loadings. I was looking at the molds Arsenal sells. I haven’t tried any of their molds yet but I understand they are top quality.

I am also intrigued by the 115gn Ranch Dog clone. Not a huge fan of the lube grooves . Despite me powder coating all my Bullets these days I still prefer a traditional lube groove. Gives me more options.

Maybe I should just stick to a 100gn swc and keep it simple. It doesn’t take much to kill a squirrel.
I’d love to hear what Bullets you guys are shooting and if your casting, what molds you like.

The Single Seven is, most certainly, the rarer of the two, by far. Any Ruger single-action, with a .32 bore, is rare.

How rare are we talking? There is another shop in town that has a fixed sight single six “baby vaquero” in 32 h&r mag.

For a cost comparison…..There’s a “baby” vaquero for sale in my area for $800 with a case hardened frame and birdshead grip. There’s also a single six in .32 H&R which has a standard blued frame with two sets of grips. One set is faux ivory. That one is going for $650.

The 90gr Lee TL-SWC powder coated and sized.314” over 3.5gr of #231/HP38 is a ringer! Gets about 1,000fps in both my 5.5” S7 and 6” M76. Very accurate!

With the .327FM, I like the Lee .311” 113gr RFNGC over 10.8gr of #2400. About 1,200fps. Uses small pistol primers.
With 13+ gr of H110 or Acc#9 I use a small rifle primer to stave off primer cratering.
I’ve aluminum taped my 113gr mold to throw.315”.

Seems the .30SuperC is eating up all the 113gr lately.....
Lee needs to make a run of 6-cavity molds in 90gr SWC and 113gr RFNGC’s.

Not just 6 cavity molds, but more bullet designs as well. Every .32 I have shot shoots better with a bullet over 100 grains. Now, I'm not going to try to shoot a 115 or 125gr bullet in .32 S&W Long top breaks, but in .327 I would. The beauty of them 115+ grain bullets in .327 is from the revolvers they're moving slow enough that they don't need to be super hard as the velocity isn't so high it requires a hard hard bullet.

Good looking single six @Tallball
I would have been happy with one of those, I don’t see myself really taking advantage of the top end 327 loads anyhow so a strongly built 32h&r would do anything I need.
Still waiting for the single seven to arrive at my gun shop here( I bought it out of state). Hopefully today. I already got my order for all the gear to reload for it. Including a very generous gift of brand new 327 brass and 120gn Bullets from my new best pal @Frulk

Seems like I’ve been rained out on the first morning of squirrel season so I think I may have to dig out the casting pot and cast up some of the Lee 90gn swc

If anyone has mold recommendations for 100+ grain Bullets I’m all ears.

Hahahahaha you are right. I’ve only been married for 5years now. Clearly I have plenty to learn still.
That’s a trap! By not getting both you now have a gun chip to play at a later date. “Remember honey you wanted me to get both, I only bought one. I am glad I waited because the one I got today was a much better deal! “

That’s exactly how I was going to play it. I think I’ve got her convinced that buying quality guns and taking proper care of them won’t loose money and may even turn into a decent investment depending on the gun
