I've ben looking around for primers for my new 1858 and had some issues findin #10's for the stock nipples (like most folks)

So i figure I might get a set of Slix nips for the 1858 so I can use the #11 CCI's

Therer are a lot of confirmed scam sites that have the #11's in stock. But I'm wonderin if there is a trusted vendor page to acquire some percussion caps from a trusted site? The *one* siter si found that seemed legit wanted $40 shipping for a $4.99 pack of 100. What should I be spending guys and gals? Where do you recommend?

I doubt that in the latter half of 2022 you are going to find percussion caps at $4.99 per tin. That's pre-pandemic level pricing. That price is a red flag. Places I'd keep an eye on and setup email alerts where possible include:

  • MidwayUSA
  • Cabela's
  • Bass Pro
  • Sportsman's Warehouse
  • Brownells
  • Natchez Shooters Supply

Then, if you get an in-stock notice jump on it ASAP. Also note that when buying caps you'll need to pay a HAZMAT fee in addition to the normal shipping.

Hey, I looked into that Sharpsshooter percussi9on cap maker seems neat..what size would be best for the Uberti 1858 a #10 or #11 punch?

Yes. I have the #11 cap maker. They work best on factory nipples. The caps made with them are too small for treso, slix etc....
Perfect thanks. Are you using straight acetone to set them up? And would it be wise for a newbie like me to pay out the butt on GB for a pack of Remington #10 Old stock caps (100) for $68 or just get the kit for about $75 total? Has the kit proven reliable to ya? Any tips?

That’s crazy money.

Just scored some #11 CCi for $5.99 & Pyrodex for $20.99

Limit was 2 for caps

Don’t over pay people! prices are coming down with components

Add a few drops of Duco cement to the acetone. Don’t use the binder included with the prime all.
