Pt. 1 I have researched some but to my luck. I'm looking for the best 300 blackout hunting round. Some say lightweight others say heavy. I'm curious to what's yours.

Pt2 is liberty ammo worth it at $50 for 20 rounds? Also what's your thoughts on the much heavier Remington 220 subsonic?

I have killed deer with lighter Barnes all copper and heavy Hornady sub-x. In both cases, the deer dropped, but blood trails left a lot to be desired. Mrs. Fl-NC lost a deer shot at 20 yards with the Sub-x. Overall, not a fan of the 300 BLK as a go-to deer round.

Super sonic is going to be more effective in nearly all cases. The generally accepted best performing 300 BO bullet is the Barnes 110gr TAC-TX. There are others that perform as well or nearly as well but that was the first best and usually the bench mark others are judged against. Barnes now makes a 120gr version of that bullet and if you are running a 16+ inch gun I would look at that one seriously. If you switch to a lead core bullet I might step up to as heavy as 125 or 130gr with bullet like the Speer TNT or similar and the performance is pretty good but in my own testing not as good as the Barnes all copper.

There is no reason to use subsonic ammo IMHO unless you are going to hunt suppressed. Then I would be looking for bullets like Maker 220gr REX. Lehigh 194 gr Control Expansion or maybe the Hornady Sub-X. In my own testing the Maker REX is an exceptional bullet but still not as effective as super sonic bullets from 300 BO. The Remington 220gr OTFB bullet would be an awful hunting choice. The bullet acts like a FMJ when fired at sub sonic velocities and in most cases would simply pencil through the target animal. It's a good sub sonic plinking round but I would not use it for hunting much of anything.

+1, I tried a number of combinations on pigs and wasn’t impressed with any of them, this bullet actually makes the round something I can use.

for me it depends if used in a bolt or auto and barrel lenth, i shoot a 16 inch rem 7 aac in 300bo and use littlegun with a 125 gr nbt, i push it at 2300- 2400 fps and 150 gr nbt at 2100-2200 fps. i have no use for sub sonic loads. with double lung shots its a good light weight deer rifle.
