"And what's interesting is apparently the "fake" gel which it was is shown, usually gives more penetration than FBI gel so I imagine the expansion would be better in real world use.".
For my info only, what is "fake" gel?
Synthetic gel, basically it's a polymer instead of the protein based gel that the FBI uses. At least that's how I understand it. Unless someone has come up with clear protein based gel?

I used them in 185 grain 45acp. Was using bullseye powder. Can't remember the weight. After digging around in the berm expansion was non existent. It seemed like the point just plugged and turned it to a hardball.

Called Berry's today and asked if they had any gel tests they could could share for their 45 ACP and 9mm bullets.

BTW, he said that Berry's would be introducing a .357 Hybrid Hollow Point at the next Shot Show. He also said they were developing this bullet with the added plating required for .357 mag loads than COVID hit.

With crimping groove?

I used the Berry's hybrid hp 180s in light 10mm and had key-holing every 6 or 8 rounds even within the published velocity envelope which is down to 40s&w velocities. Crimp so light to just remove belling too.
NO- GO

In 9mm I had the 147s not expand whatsoever, even when pushed to published maximum and averaging over 1,000fps.

I would recommend these Berry's bullets as a last resort when there is no other hollow point design on the planet available. I'd trust any LSWC over these Berrys bullets. I also LOVE the X-def available from Xtreme bullets. Much better success with this, reminds me a lot of a Gold Dot.(Xtreme X-Def)
Sorry, Berrys!!

I've bought a few thousand and like them. The closer I read what people say about them, the less concerned I am.
Yeah, it would be nice to get a more detailed analysis of there bullets than Berry's 1 minute gel test videos.
