Wow! What a gun. Marketing literature says hand build by RIA ‘smiths. As tight and smooth out of the box as my Tanfoglio’s.

Anyone else have a long slide, of any brand?

Oh yea. Midway is closing out Barnes 40 cal 140 grain and 155 grain. A whole bunch of 155’s were delivered yesterday:)

Factory S&B 180’s FMJ. First 10 were sighters. Then these 10 at 25 yards. Going to be a shooter! Tune out of the box is pretty close. Throwing brass 12 feet. So, a 28 pound main spring will replace the factory 23 pound which will cut some muzzle flip and brass by 6 feet or so. Also have a Wolff slide (return) 23 pound spring, but return (closure) speed seems pretty close to good. Recoil push very similar to 45 ACP 5” slide with a 16 pound (stock) spring shooting 230 hard ball.

Seems like it would also hurt reliability, except with the really hot loads. I guess you plan on only shooting full power loads through it?

Here's a home built long slide.

JEM frame, Caspian slide, Kart barrel, Chen magwell, EGW parts, Dawson front sight, Guncrafter Bomar style rear sight, old school hard chrome lower, blue slide. Some day I'll have to engage the services of a holster maker to make a one-of-a-kind holster for this blaster.

I have a Springfield V-16 .45 Super longslide. I bought it in the late 1990’s as my first 1911 pistol.

Best thing is it runs well on any ammo I have fed it from .45 Super down to hardball power level budget fmj.

First shot was low, then i brought it up. :)

My FFL guys have an AMT Hardballer longslide that is a really neat piece of ordinance. I think its a 6.5” or 7” barrel, the thing is a tank.

These guns are great shooters. A bit heavy for belt carry all day, but for target or hunting applications a longslide 1911 is a nice tool for the job.

Stay safe.

This one is done. Now it has a crisp 4# trigger with minimal take-up and over travel and puts 18 empty 10mm cases 6 feet from the shooter. Essentially, I’ve made this into a Dan Wesson Bruin at half the price. Well, a Bruin if I take 10 rounds out of the mag, lol.

RIA should be commended for supplying a high capacity 10mm with a beefed up frame and slide assembly, while maintaining 1911 internal parts. Even the stock trigger has all the makings for a match trigger. Granted, those trigger options are turned off so to speak, but they are there to use if one chooses to do some tuning. The factory even put a mirror polish on the feed ramp to the fully supported barrel. Nice touch.

That is NICE!

P.S. I forgot to mention that my frankenpistol (Post #12) is a 10 MM, I'm stuck temporarily while loading at least 1000 rounds, because I find that the 10 really likes a cannelure in the bullet to taper crimp into, and I'm resurrecting my old mental concept of a powered machine to roll cannelures into bullets for that, or into cartridge cases below the bullet. I'd be happy to discuss my findings so far in reloading 10 MM, maybe not all of them are correct.

Ok, I gotta ask about the surface finish on the grips, the thumb safety, the slide stop plus the trigger and grip safety and the MSH. I've never seen anything like that before.

Ok, I gotta ask about the surface finish….

Wanted to increase purchase on grips, then thought it’d look cool if it was more than grips, but I didn’t want to overdo it. This paint has sand (silica) embedded in it. I was surprised by the areas I had to clean up excess paint - almost like an adhesive binder in the paint. Seems very tough.

The rabbitted fit in the ambidextrous safety halves is very tight - have to hammer it with plastic hammer to get it back together. Nary a scratch on the safety. Several different colors are available.
