Itching for a new hunting upper

@mountain_man, we want to know what you decide ... and pics, of course.
Well, I found a deal I couldn't pass up on a 450 from bear creek that someone mentioned. I know they aren't a top tier manufacturer but the reviews on the 450 were all positive. And I met a local guy that has one and he hasn't had any problems. So I guess I'll get to see how the recoil on one is. I got to shoot a friend's 44 mag rifle and there is something about the large hole it made that I got a kick out of, so I figured why not get something bigger.

On a side note I need to grab some 450 bushmaster AR magazines. Any brand in particular work better than others

I don't think anyone has mentioned the .50 Beowulf or the (12.7x42mm). It packs a normal weight bullets of 300gr to 400gr at a muzzle speed as much as 1,900ft/s that's packing a good wallop on anything you are hunting.

duramag 450 magazines work excellent

I prefer the 458 socom but I have loaded for the 45-70 for decades and already had a very good selection of bullets. My 450 BM does the same tasks but I had to go purchase bullets for it, the idea of using cheap pistol bullets didn’t pan out for me but I also have 45 ACP carbines if I want a plinker (a lot less powder per round too.

My 300 blk was fairly useless to me for years but I got turned on to the barns TAC Tx bullet and it’s a winner with that bullet, on pigs at least.

I haven’t done any killing with my 6.5 Grendel but it has more legs than any of the above.

Well I'm having trouble finding duramags or any magazine in stock. I have found replacement followers for steel usgi mags from calegalmaga.com has anyone heard of them before. Are they a reputable company

If you know anyone with a 3D printer I belive 450 followers for 556 magazines can be made with minimal effort.

I know it works for me, puts the pigs down no problem. It's my choice for boar hunting.

I don't have an AR at all, but wouldn't
mind having one to hunt with.
My buddy and his youngest son hunt
with them successfully.
Buddy has a 7.62X39, and the son
uses a 6.8SPC.
Cousin has a Ruger of whatever their
AR is called, and uses 223 softpoint
ammo the same as he has since the
middle 1980's
All the people I know that hunt with
their ARs are successful

Good Luck

Wooops
Forgot completely about my buddy's
oldest son that obtained a 350L
AR last year and has been steadily
putting meat filled freezer bags away
with it

When you get old and grey,
You remember everything.
( woops again- I meant you forget everything)
