I was looking over these eight-inchers in the Colfax store and an unknown guy next to me commented that they were just paperweights.

I commented that if you throw one at someone and it doesn't hit point first it will at least knock them down.

So anyhow I bought one and actually use it for a paperweight. Certainly isn't part of my EDC stuff:

Right pocket: J-frame.
Left pocket: Miscellany plus small folder and 5-shot speedloader.

5-shot speedloader in man-purse, which stays in the car.

Small bright flashlight is always on my key chain.

I used to carry a CW-9 in my right pocket but it printed badly. The J-frame's cylinder breaks up the outline enough that it just looks like a pocketful of junk.

Has it occurred to anyone that this intended "humor" could be cut and pasted out of context to make gun owners appear unbalanced, irresponsible, and stupid?
So we should tiptoe over egg shells instead? If that's the case they've already won and we might as well roll over and play dead. You really think some of them aren't smart enough and or stupid to come up with their own exaggerations and falsehoods?

The mere existence of a board discussing firearms, advocating the RKBA is offensive to some people.
The revolver looks a 22. A scoped SA .22 not very practical for EDC IMHO, on the other hand one in 44 Magnum and above where you might encounter "lions and tigers and bears, oh my !" makes sense.

No need to supply them with ammunition.

In reality any "opposition" wants to silence us and will already have and use whatever they can so treading lightly, in fear of their ability to turn anything against us means we are giving into their attacks. I will not live my life in the shadows they want to relegate us to so I refuse to tiptoe around them regardless of the outcome. I refuse to be stifled to placate them.

Our purpose is to provide "online discussion board dedicated to the discussion and advancement of responsible firearms ownership. It is the declared mission of this board to achieve and provide the highest quality of firearms discussion on the Internet, a standard set by the discussion board "The Firing Line" in 1998." Buffoonery that puts gun owners in a bad light by making them look stupid works counterrto that purpose. We have enough opposition already, but that's no excuse for providing them with ammunition.

There are plenty of other web venues for that kind of thing.

How so?

. I will not live my life in the shadows they want to relegate us to so I refuse to tiptoe around them ...regardless of the outcome. I refuse to be stifled to placate them.
Fine.

regardless of the outcome.
Surely you don't mean that.

It is not "fear" that tells us not to wear a rude T shirt to a job interview. It is judgment.

They already have all the ammunition they need. And if this thread and/or mine or anyone's posts are truly in violation of the board rules then for myself I apologize and the thread needs to be closed.
Everything we have exchanged in this thread is a matter of opinion, you have yours, I have mine.
Wearing a rude t-shirt to work and what we have been discussing here are two completely different things. The first is completely stupid unless one is trying to get fired the other has to do with fear that others may try and use one's words against us. That happens every day and there is no stopping it.

The only judgement I'm concerned with is that which comes upon our earthly demise.

If indeed this thread violates the board rules then we should no longer continue our back and forth, it takes two to tango..........

What a sad state of affairs when an obviously jovial, unhostile, jokingly contrived conversation gets taken so seriously that it risks silencing simply because it might upset someone that has already holds negative opinions on the subject.............just sad.
It's not that at all. "Might upset someone" is not the issue.

Given the board rules and intent for a serious discussion of firearm related items/topics this thread is indeed technically in violation as it's not a serious discussion. Notice one subforum is not provided and that is one for general, non-firearm related discussions. You find that on pretty much every other firearms related forum but not this one. I've had jokes removed because they were not truly relevant to the topic even though the mods told me the jokes were funny, it's just the way the board is set up. We accept it or find somewhere else to post.

The picture in the OP is benign and in good humor. I enjoyed it. Same for the Remington cap and ball revolver. I'd add a brace of replicas of Geo. Washington's pistols.

However, pictures of people carrying impractical belts with multiple firearms, heavy magazine load outs, some long arms, etc. can be and have been used to motivate local councils to pass ordinances forbidding open carry, and to cause businesses to post their property. It's not that they might offend--it's that they can inflame, awaken sleeping dogs, and reinforce negative prejudices.

No one here is going to see it your way. you should either lock the thread or walk away

With what parts of that post do you take issue?

The first part would seem okay. The second simply states actual historical fact.

You seem to be repeating that this discussion gives "The Antis" ammunition against us. You repeated it multiple times, I don't see anyone agreeing with you. Again, you're a moderator, if you really believe this discussion is counter to THR's overall mission, lock it

Okay then,
This thread has not been locked.
Example of everyday carry?
Around the house.

Only reasons it' s stupid is there isn't enough ammunition.
There's no high zoot light on it.
There's no laser on it.
There's no pornographic sight on it.
It isn't leather.
Stock grip panels, who uses stock grip panels?
Stock hammer, who uses a stock hammer?
Stock trigger, see above.
It's cocked and locked. (Oh, the humanity!)
It isn't ambidextrous safety.
At least one of those magazines is 230gr FMJ Ball.
Where's the belt?
And the final offense, hidden between the barrel and slide is the stock collet barrel bushing!

Get over it or don't. I'm the one that has to answer the door with it. :p

Have a nice day
