Midway Finally Raises Minimum Purchase For Free Shipping

I've bought a lot of stuff from Midway over the years. In this day and times you can't fault a company for doing whatever it takes to turn a profit and stay in business. Sure, I liked the $49 minimum better than the $59 one. But...........

I still see the "Notify Me" option on out of stock items...

I should have been more clear. Yes, they have employed the "notify me" option. I activated that feature almost three years ago. I have never been notified of availability of the item. I have written to them every three months since then and gotten "corporate" responses. First telling me to use that feature, then apologizing, and then reassuring me that their employees are not grabbing all the SPP's.

I spent way too much time today trying to figure out what else to get so I didn’t have to pay $8 shipping. Then I realized I was being silly and changed the shipping to a faster and more expensive option :). That’s the way it goes…

Lots of stuff going on in the world but the one thing we should get worked up about is Midway’s shipping policy!
You are right!
Their shipping sucks!
I was in the middle of the pacific for a while, and it took nearly a month to receive my orders because they use the USPS. Any other store shipped using the other guys, and I received my orders within a week, even from the maple leaf guys.
For a while, I stopped doing business with them because of it.

If this is your reaction to Midway raising the minimum for free shipping by $10, I'd hate to see how you handle actual turmoil, stress and hardship in your life.

If you've got your Midway cart loaded with $49 worth of merchandise, but that extra $10 to get free shipping is going to cause you to not be able to put gas in your car or buy shoes for your kids...PM me and I'll send you $10 via either PP or money order (you're choice).
:)
Please, extend your offer!

^^^ This is a perfect argument that we shouldn't bother with any topic on gun forums at all. It's not important. We all know what we need to know. I guess this is goodbye. I'm really gonna miss you guys and gals. :(

Cie la vie

I remember back in the early 90's (or maybe it was late 80's) when Midway had free shipping on every order, no minimum required. I stopped buying from Midway for years when they got rid of the no minimum free shipping.

The opposite of the free shipping vendors are the vendors that charge outrageous shipping prices for their otherwise low priced products. And you only know about the exorbitant shipping charges when you go to check out. I have even come across a few vendors that won't even give you the shipping charges until after you give them your email address... these vendors go immediately on my black list of vendors that I won't purchase from.

Stopped buying from them when they refused to track down a missing shipment telling me that it was my responsibility. A company is only as good as their customer service.

I don’t believe that there is any such thing as free shipping (or “ no credit card fee”), those charges are built into the pricing structure.

I have ordered stuff from Midway as well as other places. I prefer to get my stuff from Sportsman’s Warehouse or Cabela’s because I can have it shipped to the store. I can pick it up at my leisure and I don’t need to worry about it being stolen from in front of my door. I guess Midway raising it minimum for free shipping is a non-issue for me.

As said earlier in this thread, it’s due to inflation and that is absolutely not Midway’s fault. I never bought exactly $49 worth of stuff anyway. I tend to wait for free shipping but order $80+ anyway since they are not making a killing IMO. They are not the cheapest but if you need an obscure gun spring, a magazine, hunting gloves and a box of ammo, they are one stop shop. Also as said earlier, there is not really free shipping since it’s all baked in. Look at Amazon prime with free shipping and no minimum. You have to pay the yearly prime membership to get that. I’m glad Midway does not have a membership program. I can’t stand subscriptions and keeping up with that sort of thing.

It is prudent to factor in all the cost issues....price, shipping, taxes, insurance, CC fees, local FFL fee...and finally, Customer Service and reputation. This last item is worth a few extra bucks for peace of mind.

As of today free shipping is back with minimum of $75.00. It'll keep going up until enough people voice displeasure to Midway USA. Midway's prices have also become some of the highest anywhere. They have nothing for me that I can't get at lower cost somewhere else. Stop defending pirates ! When it's someone as well established as Midway that join the pirates that's called betrayal. They've come over to the dark side.

A lot of people on gun forums like this talk about letting their voices be heard concerning 2A issues... doing something about it. NO YOU WON'T !!! You can't even organize enough to contact a vendor who has gone off the rails. :D

Midway has gone downhill since Mr Potterfield is no longer running the show. But so have a lot of other companies too with all of the mergers and buyouts.

When I need something right away, I will check Midway, Academy Sports, Bass Pro and Graf's. Which ever one has it in stock and at the best price is who I buy from. I'll place my order then go pick my stuff up since I live within an hour or less of all four.

If I don't need it in a hurry then I compare prices and go with who has things in stock and at the best price (to include shipping costs).

Unfortunately everything has gone up in price over the last 2 years. We either deal with it or go without.

So the way I see it, you can do several things. You can either; shop elsewhere, send emails, or just complain on the internet about things. The first two options are way better than the last option.
