The Perfect Storm of Various Gun Controversies - if you can bear it.

I posted it as amusement and not a serious examination of the 'issues'. Just for your enjoyment as it was such a collection of the horse beaten topics. Near me we have black bears - not going to discuss my preparations, haha!

It just lacked 9mm vs 45 ACP.

1. What gun for Bear?
2. Is Five Enough vs. Magazine Capacity?
3. A Taurus Judge?
4. Shotgun for HD?

1. Depends on the bear. For a Kodiak, I would want something larger than a .45 Colt.
2. Five might be enough, depending on shot placement, type and size of bear, and distance to bear.
3 For home defense against two legged creatures, yes. For a bear, see #1 above.
4. This is an interesting one, and could be debated forever. I think the HD weapon should be chosen based on many things, including but not limited too, what kind of intruder are you likely to encounter (bear, raccoon, human, etc...), proximity to neighbors (if you live 50 ft from your neighbors a high powered rifle may be a really bad choice), what type of firearm are you comfortable AND proficient with.

Always an interesting topic for debate, but usually beaten to death.

When I was just getting interested in guns I bought every gun magazine I could find. After a while I realized I kept getting "The.22LR, America's Favorite" or "The Venerable .30-06, America's Favorite", and of course "9mm vs .45, Which Is America's Favorite?" And of course, I have several .22s, both 9mm and .45s and my first deer rifle was a .30-06.

If 45 acp was enough to win two world wars its good enough for bear.

Anything more than 5 shots is a dangerous assault gun. Waddaya need all them bullets for anyhow? Next you'll be wanting double action cuz yer too impatient to cock yer gun between shots.

I think the Taurus judge is the perfect do it all pistol.

Get yerself a pump shotgun, the sound of racking that pump would scare anyone away, no need to even fire a round.

Also:

.45Colt vs. Shotgun rounds for Taurus Judge.
.45Colt vs. .44Mag or more powerful for bear.
Slug vs. Buckshot.
Rifle vs. Shotgun vs. Handgun for home defense.
Revolver vs. Autopistol for home defense.
Semiauto shotgun vs. pump for home defense.
Mounted light or not for defensive shotgun.

This one article could keep THR going for months.
