Been on the lookout for a decent Smith and Wesson 35-1 for about one year. Had never even heard of one till then. A fine FFL seller on Armslist had this one for a fairly reasonable price. I wanted one that had been shot a little but still had the box. Sort of like a bucket list gun for me. Now I have four of the older kit guns in four barrel lengths and three of them have the original box.

Anyone else enjoy these 22lr J frames ?

Um, no. We all just hate 'em.

Just kidding. I suspect you will find a few thousand kit gun fans hereabouts.

I know that my 4" Model 63 is one of my all-time favorite revolvers and one I'll never give up. If I could just find its mate in blue...
(been looking for years for one in acceptable condition).

Thanks for reminding me of another stupid move I made as a young man. ;-). Had a beautiful 4” specimen and parted ways with it for whatever reason. Along with the 6” Model 14 K38 masterpiece. What an idiot I was…..

Love them! I have an early 50's pre-35 built on an improved I frame (called a 22/32 target). I also own a 4 inch 34-1, a 51 (3.5 inch .22 Mag), a 651 (4 inch mag stainless, adjustable sights, with matching .22 long rifle cylinder), and a 63 no dash. J frame centerfire "kit" guns include a 631 (32 mag, 4 inch barrel, adjustable sights, stainless) and a 60-15 ( 3 inch, stainless, adjustable sights). I really enjoy these small-frame field guns. Mine are all in great condition and all get shot. At least one of the stainless ones gets carried almost daily on our acreage.

Well, I remember as a younger twenty-something, I thought I was permanently moving into manhood, and would thenceforth only own "man guns" (larger caliber), so I divested myself of some perfectly worthy, and in a couple cases, pure classic guns (some would be worth a lot of $ these days).

So yeah, we all do idiotic stuff when we're young and don't know any better....

I have a couple with the K frame but really like shooting the J frames more.
I find that with many younger shooters, and novices, they do seem to gravitate toward the J-frames over the Ks (in .22 LR). The kit guns just seem to fit any size hands so well.

Those are all beautiful guns! WOW!

Congrats to everyone who contributed, you have some great hardware there!

My J frame .22’s are a 317 Airlite that is a great little backpacking revolver. I am not the greatest shot with this gun; the light weight, fairly stout rimfire trigger pull and FO/V notch sights conspire to prevent me from shooting decent groups.

My second J frame is a 4” 34. I found it in great shape, it has been fun little gun.

Stay safe.

My '66 34-1. Once there was a box but where it went and even when it went is unknown.

Congrats to the OP. That must be a rare bird...

I had never heard of a Model 35 (J-Frame blued target .22LR, 6" barrel) until now.

Old Dog, wonder when they deleted the pinned barrel on the 63? Mine is a 63 dash nothing, and it isn't pinned. Still love it; learned to shoot double action with it.
Hey, Riomouse, it's not a big deal to change that V leaf to a standard notch; takes a standard J-gun adjustable leaf. Make sure to order the screw and nut as well; the screw is designed to be broken to remove it, but it's not a bad job. Did the same thing with my 317, and it is a big improvement in sight picture.

I like j-frame 22 RF revolvers.

I have Models 317, 34, 43C, 51 (22WMR), and 63.

The Model 317 is the only one that has drawn blood putting a ground hog out of my misery.

The Model 51 was my father-in-law’s pistol.

The Model 43C is the only 2” barreled revolver. The others are 3” or 4” models.

I need to keep my eye out for a 6” target model.

The older I get the more 22’s and 32’s are my preference. In addition to ones in the #1 post which are all six round revolvers, I’ve found a liking for the 8 round J frames as well. Even with the silly lock, Smith and Wesson makes very good 22 revolvers !
