Well, according to your location field (42° 56' -71 °27'), you live in a pond near the Manchester, NH airport.

I am perplexed that: a) you would want to store your guns in the water, and b) you need a Massachusetts FID to keep them there.

WRONG. The licensing authority (read: your chief) has seven (7) days from the submission of your application in which to send your prints to AFIS. He/she has forty (40) days in which to approve or deny your app.

As FID cards are SHALL ISSUE, the chief has ZERO discretion as to issuance, and may not require additional letters, courses, etc. not specified in the statute (MGL c. 140, s. 129B).

Failure to issue/deny in 40 days is deemed a constructive denial. Appeals are by a Petition for Judicial Review filed in your District Court. Oh - it's not the chief's burden to prove you are "unsuitable;" it's YOUR obligation to prove you AREN'T "unsuitable." Just so you know.

You've finally gotten the card - congratulations. Now join GOAL and get a clue, so you don't get jerked around on your LTC!
