Best smelling gun oil.

M-Pro 7 Mil-Spec CLP.
It does not smell at all.

G96 Gun Treatment if you like a lubrcant with some 'essence' to it.

What's the best-smelling gun oil?

Back in the late 50s I was in Western Europe and discovered a product called "Ballistol". I think it was manufactured in West Germany; I remember buying it first in Switzerland. It worked well enough, but I especially liked the smell of it.
When I returned to the States, I could not find it anywhere, so I sighed, shrugged and went on to other products. Then, a few years ago, I learned that "Ballistol" is available in the US. I hurried to mail-order a small aerosol can of it, and eagerly sprayed some onto a metal surface and sniffed it. It wasn't the Ballistol I remembered! Either the manufacturer has changed the formula or I'm going senile. (Hmm. It occurs to me that the two alternatives outlined here are *not* mutually exclusive.)

Hoppes #9, followed closely by cosmoline.

Of course, I also like the smell of burnt gunpowder. No, not Wolf, but Winchester white box.

SLightly OT even though I shoot/clean every week, the first whiff of CLP always puts me right back at Parris Island...as does the smell of rain hitting a hot July asphalt "Grinder" :what:

Not too many milsurpers, I see (or, maybe many that have cleaned cosmo off one too many guns :p )

I don't know how you guys say CLP doesn't smell. It's about the smelliest to me.

Oil: FP-10

Solvent: Hoppe's No.9

I like Ballistol as a product but it smells like stinky feet! Likewise, Kroil is an excellent solvent/penetrating agent but it REEKS.

While not a petroleum product, I like Thompson Center's Bore Butter. Always thought it smelled like Ben Gay. Season your muzzleloader and treat sore/aching muscles with the same product. :p

After breaking the onerous and tough to quit habit of chewing tobaco, my favorite being kodiak wintergreen, the first time I smelled Bore Butter, I kind of got the shakes.

You, know, I tried FP-10 yesterday at the gun shop and I could barely smell it. Just put half a drop on my finger. Felt kind of strange--they should have tester bottles! :D

What's the most pleasantly fragrant oil?

I use G96, I like the smell... Now Bore butter smells and tastes like those wax lips and teeth we used to get when we were kids... I am glad it's non-toxic, cause I ate some.:D :D

I can't believe no one has yet asked WHY this thread was started :p !

But I'll play along... FP-10 is my all-purpose cologne with a dash of Boeshield T9 thrown in for good measure.

I will also concur with an earlier reply however... that you'd be hard pressed to beat Eezox when you want to make a lasting impression during a brief encounter with the doll of your dreams...
