I was just wondering if any manufacturer has ever recalled a product (gun/rifle/shotgun) ??

If so, why ???

Many things you buy nowa days have problems. Being that a gun can kill even if it is flawless, what would happen if the were a bad batch ??

anybody hear of any kind of recall ???

Never knew anyone made a gun in .9mm...

That's awfully small.

Sorry, that has nothing to do with the topic, but I felt the need to make the comment...

I do not know if it was a recall in the classical sense but, Glck has notified my agency of quite a few adjustments that needed to be made to the guns and the magazines. Thgey have supplied the parts free of sharge as far as I am aware. I imagine that is pretty much a recall.

Best regards,
GB

Sure, lots of them for different reasons. Like anything else that is recalled they repair/replace whatever the problem is. Some pay all shipping some oneway. If you go to FirearmsID.com and sign up (free) you can gain access to a long list of Recalls and Warnings on guns and ammo.

Lots of 'em

Remington XP-100, Ruger 3 screws, Savage safeties, Howa, Winchester, etc. Most are not actually "defective" but not "lawyer proof".

Vektor had that ray-gun looking pistol that had a recall on it. Turns out it's a bad idea to design a pistol from the outside in. Looked cool, tho.

Just about every major manufacturer has had at least one. Some won't call it a recall. You hear about something euphemistically called a service bulletin that basically say "if you have one of these, stop using it and send it back to us." Surprisingly just about every recall says the same thing. Some companies with large LE contracts have tried to keep it quiet while they service LE customers while others issue full-blown ads through every gun magazine, on their website, and any official channel available.

Some examples come to mind: Glock (2 things I remember most - one was a service upgrade, the other was a frame "advisory"). S&W had a recall on N-frame stainless .44s some 20 years ago that has recently gotten some attention. Seems some 624s and 629s had a bad batch of cylinders (far as I know, they found very few guns that were actually affected and they settled accounts with the owners very nicely). Ruger's Blackhawk, Single-six "recall" wasn't really a recall. They were upgrading the guns to the newer transfer bar system. Nothing really wrong with the old system as long as you use due diligence (load 5 and keep the hammer down on an empty chamber - standard safe carry condition for SAA revolvers). Taurus had problems with Millenium edition gun (they absolutely refused to label it a recall, but they also replaced the frame if it cracked).

The rear sight on my M3 Super 90 Benelli fell off :what: ! I tried using loctite to put it back on, but that worked for about a shot or two, before it fell off again. I contacted the manufacturer and told them my problem. They offered free repair and shipping, although I had to wait ~6 months to get it back. The customer service rep told me that this was a common problem. Hasn't come off since ;) . They even replaced my gas/pump selector, which also broke. I love good service. :D

Don't free factory repair of firing pin bushings on -0 Smith L-frames. Does that count as a recall?

Not sure where this logic is headed... :scrutiny:

I remember the safety recall on the SPAS 12 shotguns. The safety switch had to be replaced with a different one, because if i remember correctly, leaving it loaded, with the safety on, when you flicked it off could cause the gun to fire.

Look into The Great Glock Recall of 1992. 400,000+ pistols went back to the factory.

Also check the NYPD website and look at what they have to say about their 25,000 Glocks.
