Video of CHP confiscating firearms....

So what about NFA owners? By federal law they can not turn over the weapon to a stranger, even someone that claims to be a police officer. They can not evacuate and leave the state either, at least not without an approved 5320 form. Leaving a MG or suppressor for looters to steal is right out.

If the jackboots press the issue the only lawful response would be to shoot the bastards?

What do you think of this? I believe the CHP force sent to NOLA was interviewed before thy left to make sure they were all singing from the same song-sheet. They were probably told this will be a difficult mission and you may have to do some things not normally done in the line of duty.

The CHP does not enter homes as much as town or city cops do. I have worked with some CHP offfices when I was a reserve in Northern California. All but two were reasonable guys and were decent besides.

In police work the many of the newer officers coming aboard have a different attitude in dealing with the public. It is almost a "Us vs Them" thing and not so much the "Protect and Serve" motto.

everyone who's got a link that needs to be archived: pm me. I'll wait a few days and throw together a torrent, and maybe cache them on the THR server.

We run into cases where the arguments run to "oh yeah, the NOPD are looting? Prove it. I've only seen proof that two were involved, which is just a small fraction of the force." This will only get worse.

I guess I'm thinking about getting an online documentation project together. Copies of blogs, news stories, and especially videos should be linked together in an easy to distribute and reference format.

If you see something, snag it. For now we'll have duplication -- maybe we can throw together a mailing list to coordinate over the next few weeks.

Game? Lemme know via pm please.

Well ladies and gentlemen...

I would say that akward time has passed.

Now, we can do one of two things:

1) We can whine, complain, call for someone else to do something, whatever, all the while pretending we would stand up to this if it happened to us.

2) We can open the safe, fill up the trunk, and head down there to stop it -- by force if needed.

We do the first thing, and we are tacitly admitting we are nothing but a bunch of whiners who will bend over at the first demand. You know im right - dont pretend otherwise.

We do the second thing, we start the next revolution.

So, ladies and gentlemen, its time to fish or cut bait. Do one or two of us go down there alone and get dismissed as just a couple of kooks, or.....? Either way - a change is occuring in the United States as we speak, and there is no peaceful way back from it. History tells us this - and we are all way too educated to pretend otherwise.

Scarcasm Mode On

Why you wouldn't expect the CHP to practice beating up old women at home would you. I mean if they were to do it there they would get the pants sued off them. Why do you think they went there in the first place?

Thanks for posting that CNN video. I haven't seen that one yet. The man in the beginning of the vid has some guts. Good for him. I hope they leave him alone. Key word: Hope

NO seems to be shadowing the way we conduct operations in foreign countries that we have DECLARED WAR ON.

(?) The US hasn't declared war since 1941. You must be thinking of some alternate universe, where the Constitution is still in force. (Hint: check a mirror and see whether you have a beard).

You're right to wonder about what happens when the legions come home, though... they've spent years kicking down doors and confiscating weapons from ordinary civilians, while pretending to look for "WMDs" that they know full well never existed (cause the US only invades countries that don't have real weapons). "Hey, it's a job"... that's what the ones I know tell me.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the Bushbots will start to have a little understanding of what the people in Iraq are experiencing under U.S. occupation.

The very idea of the CHP in someone else's state forcibly disarming old women and taking them, in the words of the "reporter", to be "processed" makes my blood run cold.

I thought the CHP wore brown shirts. After seeing that video, it would be more appropriate.

Derek--I think that would be a great idea and a fantastic service to the community as a whole. Keep us posted, I'll circulate anything I come across as well.

Nick1911 - Thank you!!!!! I've been trying to get downloadable versions of those. What did you use to get them?

Derek - If you pull down the five that Nick has, and then the one from ABC News the other day, I think you've got the most important ones, at least from what I have seen so far.

It would be nice to know how many police in N.O. are for or against stealing weapons or forced evacuations. It would also be nice to know how many police in the USA are for or against it.

I guess I am not surprised given the way emminent domain cases are handled but it is still shocking to see it happen. It is amazing what some humans are capable of.

That is one disturbing video, both the demonstration of the LEO's action, as well as the dim bulb reporter who would probably be waving a copy of the Constitution, if he felt the First Amendment were being usurped with an equal amount of vigor.
