Just looking to see who else has found the 20/21 sized gun to be the best set up for their 'do most everything' handgun.

I would *love* to say yes. I've shot a first-gen model 20 that we have as a rental that's had more rounds than I could fathom to guess through it and found it very accurate at 25 yards. They're simple, robust, and support modifications easily.

But they don't FIT! And that gives me no end of aggravation. Sorry.

I don't know about "love", but my Glock 21 and I enjoy a rewarding, mutually supportive relationship. It's been my companion longer than most girlfriends I've had :neener:

I have two CCW one is a Ruger SP101 2 1/4" the other is a GLOCK 21. If that answers your question. A fellow would have to like what he carries. The 21 is a fine gun, soft shooting, accurate, 13 round magizines, ezsy to care for, what else do you want. The Ruger is just a little more concealable, hence my carry selections. But, I'm pinching my pennys for a Sig 226 in .357 sig which may very well replace the Glock in the line up. P. T.

My 21 carries a special place in my heart, as it belonged to a good friend who died of cancer years back. He had carried it on duty, and once "blew" it up at the range with some bad rounds. He just gathered all the parts, ( magazine), put it back together, and kept shooting. Pretty tough.

I have never really liked Glocks but I do have the Glock 29 (mini version of Glock 20) and love it for what it is, one of the only concealable 10mms around. Also, even though my personal preferance isn't a Glock, I do admit that they are extremely durable and can be very accurate. As for my Glock 29, I find that it groups real well and has very manageable recoil. However, if I was going to move up to a full size 10mm I think that I would do so in a Kimber 1911 platform. Also, I prefer my 1911s and HK USP for my .45 needs. The 1911s are far for upgradeable and, in my opinion, capable of greater accuracy than the Glock and my USP feels like a gun designed for CQB.

I love my G20. Some complain about the grip size but it doesn't bother me. I love shooting 10mm out of the Glock, its reliable and comfortable to shoot. No complaints here. As a matter of fact, I got rid of my 17 and 19 and this is the only Glock I have left. I think its the best Glock and fills any need I may have in a Glock handgun.

My Glock 22 has served me well as my HD gun. Its tough, accurate, reliable, and soft shooting. Plus, 16 rounds of .40 S&W is nothing to take lightly.

Me. I do. I love my 21. It's the only handgun I keep in my bug-out bag, along with five full-cap magazines of JHP ammo. If I have to trust my life to one handgun, that is the one.

The only other handgun I own that I feel strongly enough about to use the "L" word is my Glock 26, which is on my hip everywhere except work.

Dont have one but....

I dont have one sadly:( but i have fired the 10mm Glock before and i love the feel of it, on the 17 and 22 it just feels to "thin" in my hands, i like the heft of the G20, i would really like to try a G21 sometime if i could find someone who has it.:D

Plus another thing i like about the G21's is it's chambered in the 45acp and it can hold up to like 13 rounds, but then again so can the Para's and they are 1911 style

Glad to know there are a few of us out there! I bring up the question mainly because I think that I found my preferred sidearm, the 21. For me the 17 sized pistol is to small(and it's 9mm), so the 21 is naturally a better choice. I think with GLOCKS especially, there is a period of adjustment when shooting and dry-Firing is uncomfortable until it finally feels more natural. I've shot 1911s quite a bit, and while I love 1911s, the 21 gets the nod. The 21 points better for, offers higher mag capacity, is lighter, and very durable.

I have a 20, 29, and a 19. I absolutely love the 20 and 29 and merely love the 19 (If that makes any sense). The big guns are accurate, I thought initially they'd be too big, but they are very comfortable and seem to properly fill your hand. I mostly carry the 20 at work and the 29 concealed.

The grip is like holding a 4x4 post.

Have you held an XD in 45ACP? It will make you forget all about the big 45 Glock. Better trigger and grip angle, too. No plastic trigger, less expensive and a lifetime warranty, too.

Now, again....why would anyone want the thick, clubby Glock?

I guess it all depends on the size of your hands. I have pretty long fingers. You know what they say, "small hands, small... heart," or something like that.

I like the Glock 21 but there is always that nagging question of whether the damn thing is gonna kaboom on me.That keeps me from shooting it much. It's a Gen 2 police trade-in.

The 21 KBing is one of those Internet myths, like the pumps and pills that will make your, um, heart bigger. I've seen photos of 22s KBing, but never an actual photo of a 21 doing so. I'm sure it has happened, but at no greater rate than any other .45 caliber gun--I have seen photos of exploded 1911s.

That's impossible! Every armchair commando knows that only Glocks blow up. It's that unsupported chamber, a 1911 has full chamber support doncha know.

:D

As a new member to the G21 fold I do like it the way it is. The grip once I got used to it is fine, the sight picture is fine. It points natural for me. I do like carring 14 rounds total of 230 grain XTP's vs the 8 of my old and trusty GI Springer. My wifes G19 seems a bit small and fragile but she has never had a malfunction. (Onlly about 5k through it mostly reloads). The unsupported chamber, to me is well the jury is still out. I reload ( 4.7 Titegroup 230 West Coast 230 grain FMC CCI primer)My partener shoots the same load through his Springfield. When I resize the case I tried a experement. I used a spring scale to check the force of the unsupported chamber VS the supported chamber of the Springfield. We kept the brass seperate and loaded checked about 50 rounds of each. My press is a Lee Challenger (5 yeas old) Average was 10 lbs of force to resize the 1911 brass 10.2 to resize the G21 brass. The high was 14.3 for the Springer and 14.5 for the G21. Low was 7.5 for the Springer and 7.5 for the G21. No "smilies" at the 6 o'clock. The g21 is lot lightert than my old 1911 a bit shorter and a bit wider. Damn fine gun.
Love it and trust it. Plus it has enough size and weight to feel good.

I don't believe the 9mm Glocks have unsupported chambers. The .40 and .45 ACPs do. I don't shoot .40, which is a much higher pressure round than the .45 and if there is a problem it is a lot more likely to show up in that caliber. I really don't worry about the unsupported chamber when shooting the relatively low-pressure .45 ACP round. Like I said, I have seen photos of exploded 1911s. I have never seen a photo of an exploded Glock 21 (Glock 22s, yes, but not Glock 21s).

As an Armed Professional Security Officer...

I carry a Glock 20 for a living. It is a 3rd generation model that is less than 6 months old. I qualified with it on the Oregon state course, and outshot everyone else on the range (2 retired LEO's and a MP that had just returned from Baghdad). What does this tell you?

I was being sarcastic, y'all. A 1911 doesn't have much more chamber support than a G21.

G'day Stinkyshoe and et al.,

I can tell you and others that I've had a very good time with both the 21 & 20. Both have been very good for both casual and serious applications.

As of right now I'm having a bit more fun with the 20 as it has provided me some additional intrigue. I have picked up an additional barrel to allow me to safely shoot 40 S&W at half the cost of 10 mm. It's been a fun time as the larger frames feel better to shoot.

Enjoy your presidential weekend! Cheers!

Agreed, maybe even less. I don't know where these 'Glocks have unsupported chambers' stories come from. Here is a side by side Glock 21 and 1911 barrel comparison. Where is the 'unsupported chamber'?
