(TN) Law-abiding citizens turn in firearms to keep them out of lawbreakers' hands

I wonder if it would be a smart idea or even possible for people to run a
private buy back program to counter the official program. No mention of
destroying the weapons but just stating they'll give you double the gift card
value..... at least in states that still respect free trade.

Double Tap Drew: In answer to your question, the dept I worked for in East TN routinely cut up pre Series 70 National Matches, Pythons, pre-war Smiths, etc. over many of our (the officers) objections. Ours were not turn-ins but confiscated for the most part. Our chief got his press time saying;"These guns will never hurt anyone again."

Most dangerous city...

In a recent law enforcement article, it stated that Memphis is the most dangerous city to live in in the USA.

Just in case some of you cannot fathom this in the south, Memphis is to Tennessee as Boulder and Denver are to Colorado. Thats right, Memphis is so bad, I have to compare it to TWO liberal holes from somewhere else.

That's awful! If I had to do that I'd look like a re-enactment of the old commercial of the Native American with a single tear rolling down his cheek!

I may go to hell for this but the image that popped into my head when I read
that was of Jesus flipping over tables in the temple.

When you look at the actual article what item is front and center? A BB pistol!

NRA has been talking about these buy backs for years, the vast majority of firearms voluntarily turned in are completely non functional, they don't work! They are junk that's why they are getting rid of them. Some people do turn in guns they might have inherited from a deceased relative, this is a real sin because once in a while a real treasure might get destroyed, some piece of priceless history thrown out in the trash! :banghead:

Memphis is not really in Tennessee. We kicked that dumbass city and its dumbass people out last year

True, it's not Tennessee, but we just can't get rid of it. And if Ford wins, Memphis' cancer will spread to the whole state once again.

Oh, please, please...surely he can't persuade enough folks outside of Memphis to win!
But as someone said in an earlier post, these folks in Memphis turning in guns vote--as Memphis last election showed, some vote more than once and come back to life to vote!

It isn't just Ford guys. Chattanooga has a cancer it is sending to the rest of the state in the form of Corker. If it comes down to Corker vs Ford Tennessee (and America, since it will be a Senate seat) loses. Though I hope Bryant wins, I am eternally pissed at both Ed and Van for not making a backroom deal, and one of them leaving the race.

I really wish they had agreed that one of them will take Frist's seat, and the other will run against Lamar. We would be better off minus our two current RINO senators.

"Ninety percent of the guns we get from criminals are stolen in burglaries," said Higgins, who added that most of those guns are sold on the street.

"A criminal is not walking around with a gun that's registered to him; it's a gun he's obtained illegally," he said.

If this is true, that criminals get their guns illegally, then why do they try to control them by passing stricter gun laws?

Stuck on stupid?

"Ninety percent of the guns we get from criminals are stolen in burglaries," said Higgins, who added that most of those guns are sold on the street.

I like the other idea: Having a "money turn-in day." Lessee, how would that go?

"Ninety percent of the money we get from drug dealers is stolen in burglaries or robberies," said Higgins, who added that most drug users turn to theft to support their habit. Taking the money off the streets makes America safer. :neener:

:neener: :neener: :neener: Boy, I don't what to say. How about you just send me your gun's, I'll pay the postage & dispose of them as necessary?:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So let the cops steal your firearms and then other criminals won't be able to. Brilliant! It's these sort of insane events that give some LEO's the idea that they have a right to preemptively steal firearms in the wake of a natural disaster.

Folks,

This is a serious threat to Preserving Freedom and Fighting Tyranny.

Some will get training from Mr. Given's at Rangemaster and other trainers. We are preaching to the Choir AND to FENCE SITTERS in regard to getting Training.

Part of what these trainers do - include LEGAL matters, not only what an individual can and cannot do - also what the GOV'T is liable to do and not do.

Fence sitter attends a CCW instructor, or a training facility - only to listen and learn. At this point they are on the fence about whether they need to be self reliant, or listen to the Gov't.

Which brings us to Legislative Matters.

These fence sitter may educate themselves and VOTE to better themselves and send messages - including Gun Buy Backs are a "touchy feel good" bandaid for the sheep - open season for BGs to slaughter the sheep.

Tryanny does not care one whit if the gun bought back is a BB Gun, Airsoft, Rusty Piece of Junk or a quality made gun.

Tyranny cares about the Indoctrination , The Mind Set, The Brainwashing it can achieve by the act and MEDIA Exposure of buying back gun.

I would imagine there is some funding going on as well , either visible or behind closed doors to reach Tryanny's goals.

Memphis today...

Perhaps YOUR City tomorrow because
- well there is that funding money, that complacent attitude " it'll never happen here like it did to those clowns"...
- flippant attitudes - " got a hardware shotgun broke and busted - ha I'll sell it and get a tacticool CCW Badge, Kewl Ulitimate Ammo, New Teem Seel Video game"
-"what difference does it make if I sell just one crappy gun".

Cemetaries are full of the dead - one corpse at a time.

I dunno - maybe we should contact Tom Given's in Memphis, and other Trainers in TN and
"hey folks , I'm not in TN, I am concerned, anything I can do to assist?

Nah...I'm just a old Fuddy Duddy, what do I know, who cares?

"I've been after him for 40 years to get rid of it," said Taylor, who was relieved to finally get the guns out of her Cordova home.

I bet that dude was happy to go. Although she's not really into guns herself, my wife knows the value of my firearms and knows to take them to a DEALER if anything ever happens to me. And those are only the ones that my daughter doesn't want to keep for herself, which will probably be all of them. I brought that kid up RIGHT.

I cannot wait for the friggin' zombies! Then we'll see... Oh yes, then we'll see!

Ha! Can I use that for my sig line, and attribute it to you? Lol. Wonder if granny-no-guns who's down there turning in her hubby's collection since he's finally too senile or tired to stop her, first asked their kids if they needed or wanted them? It's just so sickening.

I wonder if it would be a smart idea or even possible for people to run a

I don't see why not, as long as you have an FFL-1. Just advertise - "Bring your guns to us, and we'll get them off they street and give you a gift certificate!". No different legally than buying a gun from a walk-in or making a trade-in deal on a new gun. Then in the fine print of your ads be sure to specify that gift certificate value goes down for ravens & non-working guns. (but I repeat myself). Also in the fine print elaborate that "off the streets" means "off the streets and into good loving homes." Whenever the police buy-back is about to happen, saturate the radio for a day or two, and/or offer $10 more on the GC than what they are offering. You might get a few pythons for $110. :)

Where's Tamara - she LOVES gun 'buybacks'. :scrutiny:

Yeah, because think of all the mayhem that they've caused over these last 40 years.

I was glad to get some of those bad guns out of my house last time there was a buyback here.

1 non-functioning
+ 2 unsafe
+ 1 junk gun
-------------------
$200 to spend on a better gun

I thought of it more as a tax refund since they used city funds for the buyback.

I'd bet some of those "collectables" end up in an MPD safe. Otherwise, it makes me sick to think someones collection, 40+ years old, would melted down :barf:
