G_T, I don't think we're at the point yet where we can be assured that the makeup of the SC is in our favor. Or at least the point where we could be assured that the court would rule in our favor.

Monkeyleg, I believe you misunderstood my message: the SC will become monotonically leftist. That is to say, it's only getting worse with time, so the best time to act is as soon as possible. We will never be assured of a favorable (i.e., correct) interpretation of the law, but we can assume that our chances of receiving the correct verdict will dwindle if we hesitate.

In would really like to see Fred Thompson put his speaking ability and stature to work. He could hand Obama his head in a heads up debate. Hillary wouldn't fare any better. Let him be himself and turn him loose.

I'm confident the Democrats will win in 2008, but I hope it isn't with Hillary. It's rather amusing to hear people call her an ultra-leftist, when in reality she has no interest in liberal issues like workers' rights and economic justice. She began as a corporate lawyer and that's still where her heart is, and she pushes gun control, bans on violent video games and explicit music, etc., to paint herself as a do-gooder to mindless suburbanites. If she wins it'll be business as usual for the outsourcers and "free trade" economic hitmen.

Obama is very unlikely as a candidate; he makes a nice political soundbite but there's no real substance to him and the media will forget him by election time. And whoever the candidate is, I doubt that gun control will be one of their big priorities. The AWB single-handedly destroyed the Democratic majority and cost the party a staggering amount of political capital in 1994. Most of the party's potential growth is with pro-gun electorates, as evidenced by upset winners like Tester and Webb. Back in the early nineties there was a big scare over militias, white supremacists and the like which fed anti-gun arguments but that's mostly evaporated now, and any political strategist with a brain knows that opposition to the RKBA is more a liability than an asset.

Unless there is some major catastrophic event I think the dems will take it in '08 with a Hilary/Obama ticket. The Republicans are unlikely to run anyone I would vote for and there is no viable third party.

G_T summed it up really well, not that I want another Clinton in the White House.

Our worst nightmare in my opinion.....Hillary/Obama with a democratic House and Senate, I can't even stomach the thought of Hillary/Obama/Pelosi/Schumer.:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: You can kiss the Second Ammendment bye-bye. If this scenario happens, they WILL get a comprehensive gun ban passed and probably go as far as confiscation. God Help Us All.

Its also neauseating to watch the media prop up Barak O'Bama like he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, they are drooling over him.:barf: All this guy has to offer is personality, charisma, and broad general statements. He has NO substance and cannot give details on how he would achieve his policy statements.:barf:

All:

Earth to posters! Earth to posters!

Hey! How short is your memories?

These big-spending, don't-know-how-to-run-a-war, religious bigots just got their butts BOUNCED by thinking and had-it-to-here 2A voters like me.

Knock it off. More "consolidating the base" of these idiots will result in an '08 repeat.

The Dems wised up and took the middle, if we take it with them, we can win.

Don't believe me? Go ask Rick Santorum.

they know they can't buy bush, but that she is for sale.

Oh? Think Saudi Arabia, China, and Mexico. Money talks.

Whoever wins in '08 and whatever they believe, it is not up to the majority to overthrow our unalienable rights. If we allow that to happen it's our own fault.

My opinion? This is white America, and look at the Dems strongest candidates: a black guy and a woman. My money says America votes Republican again just because of that stark reality. It's ugly I know, but it's the way things are.

Personally we should all vote Libertarian and live the good life :)

I am unsure, but am leaning toward yes. The GOP has really screwed things up, and I'm not sure they're inclined to fix it the way it needs to be fixed.

It wouldn't matter if a polition did like weapons, they wouldn't have the guts to say so.. they are trained on what to say about every issue, it's not about them or us, it's about getting votes. Even press conferences are rehershed now days. I don't think you could ask anyone in politics what their birthday is and get a straight answer.

Maybe we should draft Cheney, he likes guns and didn't even get a citation for shooting a guy.

If a Dem gets in, you can't buy a gun. If a Rep gets in, you can't afford to buy a gun. Sounds dead even to me. Every time I gas my car I have to sell a gun, thanks Haliburton

Hillary

Hillary is not stupid and knows gun control is poison for the Dems, so she'll have to make herself very clear and believable on the issue before gun people will support her. Maybe Hillary's love of power will motivate her to droip the gun control thing. Her big thing is to socialize the medical system and hopefully that will keep her busy as president. To get a feel for Hillary (figuratively), read Dick Morris; he's a former Clinton advisor and has great insight into these people.

This question depends on the guts of both parties. I work in politics so I am aware of many of the contenders that dont make the news. I say GOP wins if we run a real canidate being either Romney or Huckabee. If we run a fake republican like McCain we loose. Both Hillary and Obama scare the daylights out of me BUT I hope they stop fighting each other and run a joint ticket because then that makes our job much easier as GOP staffers.

Guiliani - No.
McCain - No.
Romney - No.
Huckabee - ?

If one of the top three I listed wins the GOP nomination then I'll either vote Libertarian for Pres or deliberately under-vote if there's no third-party candidate. I'll still go to the polls to support my Congressional Rep since she's ok.
