JAE-100

I just ordered one last night, directly through JAE. Lead time is 14-16 weeks right now. But damn if that ain't the sexiest stock I've ever seen. Read the specs and features on their website; it isn't just eye candy.

It's $699 for the base stock, extra to get colour-matching accessories (cheek pad, etc) if you don't go with black. I went with black.

I don't know how well it shoots yet; it's gonna be 14-16 weeks before I get mine. :D

That said, however, besides looking awesome, the stock significantly improves accuracy, especially on standard M14-style rifles (like my M1A standard). It uses titanium lugs for a positive locking fit between the barreled receiver assembly and the stock. The stock itself has a precision-machined aluminum skeleton on the inside, and a composite exteriour. When you place your order, they request your receiver's manufacturer (as well as your barrel type and length), and the year it was made, so they can custom machine your stock to fit your receiver and barrel precisely.

The upshot of this is that there's no bedding required; whenever you disassemble and reassemble, everything locks in place with adjustable tension for a perfect, repeatable bedding between the rifle and the aluminum skeleton of the stock.

For non-bedded standard rifles like my M1A, it should drastically improve potential accuracy.

Thank you, Dion. :neener:

If you get a matching MOLLE set, it gives you defense against AK-47 fire +13.

not trying to hijack the thread, but what model of US Optics scope is that....it looks damn sweet

Edit:
Answered my own question by being a little more observant.

It's the one that costs more than both the rifle and the stock.

Oh wait. That's all US Optics scopes.....

I am with SIGFAN, US American Dark Stained Walnut. The rest is just plastic. LOL Bill

I guess you didn't read that this stock is comprised of both composite and aluminum for the internal skeleton...

And while I like a good wooden stock as much as the next guy, composite will never warp, rot, split, crack, grow mildew, or expand and contract with humidity.

Sorry General Geoff - I had to digress. :neener:

GG - You will love the JAE - it's a tremendous piece of engineering. The M1A I fired in one was sublime to shoot. Very tight - a natural upgrade to bring an M1A/M14 into todays world. I prefer the Troy MCS for it's adaptability, fit, no need for tools, optics inline, BUIS and other features, but gave the JAE a long look. I found the JAE a bit on the heavy side and a bit unweildy under sling, but that's all personal stuff and will be eclipsed once you shoot your rifle in one. Congrats and keep us posted!

General, that is indeed a very very nice looking stock. Come back and let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks Mark, I certainly look forward to getting it.

I considered the fact that the JAE is heavy, and is unweildy for carrying with a sling.. but since I'm building my rifle up to be a mainly stationary tack driver, those factors are largely irrelevant. I actually looked at the Troy MCS too, but that's a stock that'd see much better use in a CQB/carbine weapon setup. I might eventually make an M1A in that style too... but I need a DMR first. :)

000Buck: Certainly will-do.

Sexy? YES! $700 worth of sexy? Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder.
Me, now, I wouldn't pay $700 for that stock. Me, with a lot more money, I'd probably have 2 or 3.

I look at it this way. I won't have it for another 4 months, and during those 4 months, all I have to do is put in maybe two hours of overtime per week at work; then I will have paid for the stock, with money to spare.

That stock is definitely worth an extra two hours of work per week for a few months.

don't let them get you down GG. at ~$700, it is pricey, but the quality you get is second to none. while i wouldn't say it is the "coolest M14 stock," it certainly is up there. i have no complaints about mine. :D

That a 10-round magazine?!? Oh the horror!

J/K, I noticed where you're located. My condolences. :D

Yours looks amazing. Question, what receiver do you have, and what kind of scope mount is that?

Well, now I know what kind of stocks those are. And GEEZ does it look awesome!

You'd better update us in two months with some pics
