A Newbie.

Greetings from New Jersey. Leave your Constitution at the border. Jim is my name. I live in Southern Jersey. I enjoy the shooting sports, reloading a little, hunting and fishing. I found this site while looking to solve a reloading problem. Looks like a great place. I participate in a very nice fishing site too, TheBassbarn. Much to learn and share I'm sure.

Allow me to introduce myself

hello all,
my name is Scott Chandler (hence the whitty screan name Scotch Handler). I have been into guns for as long as i can remember. My dad and uncles are big on hunting so they always had guns. I never picked up on the hunting side of firearms but i did enjoy shooting with them. I always liked my dads handguns more than the long guns. When i got my ccw my dad gave me my first handgun (Smith and Wesson 39-2) and i have been "packin heat" ever since. I have since bought 2 1911s (both Springfield Armory) and a Mossberg 500 shotgun. I am 24 now and a graduate of Lock Haven University in PA. I currently work at the hospital in Williamsport Pennsylvania. I have been reading threads on the high road for months now and decided i would finally post and hopefully start adding to some threads instead of jsut learning from you fine gunnies.
thanks again
-Scotch

Hi Jay! Pull up a chair and stick around. You will find that the members here are some of the most knowledgeable and polite people that you will ever meet on the web.

Greetings All

This is a great forum

As an intro, I was born far-far away, long long ago. North Dakota and to long ago for me to want to remember.

A am a former member of a couple of the US services, have worked in various fields, I bought my first (BB) gun at about age 15, first .22 at age 16 (I could legally do that) and first handgun (.22 Ruger) at (legal) age of 18.

Military school trained me with the M1 Garand, .22 training rifle, M60, M16 & M2 MG. Military tarined me with the M1 Garand & Carbine, M1911A1 pistol, M9 Pistol, not to mention the M16, & M14 - though not in that order. I am also a firearms instructor.

The list of firearms I own is not for public dissemination nor do I find it akin to a resume. Besides, I have a wider range of experiencew with firearms than my limited personal collection.

Love the forum and thanks for the welcome ;)

I am currently living in Eastern MT. I have lived in Montana most all of my life but at the end of May will be moving to Boise ID. Looking forward to the change. I love the outdoors. My passion is to start long range precision shooting. At this point I hunt deer and elk with the occasional bear hunt. My collection isn't very extensive right now but I have plans to change that. Thought it was more important to pay for the wife's graduate school. So at present I am a stay at home dad with two kids and just loving life. Looking forward to conversing with fellow members and learning as much as I can from those who are willing to teach.
Thanks, Learningman

Allow myself to introduce,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,myself

I've been lurking for quite a while soaking up information. I finally decided to sign up. I don't know what I can add to this site but there is some great info here. I live in Tecumseh, MI. Retired from Ford after 30 yrs. I have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Some of the 5 children shoot and the 3 oldest grandchildren are learning to shoot. They are 13, 11, and 9 and are learning on the 22 cal. guns, the 13 yr old will shoot any of them but likes the 22's the best.
Here is what's in the safe so far.
Savage 24V Model D - 30-30/20ga.
Ruger 10-22
Browning Buckmark Micro - 22
Ruger Blackhawk - .357/38
Marlin 1894 - 357/38
Marlin 336 - 30-30

Hows everyone doin im a new member i love all guns love to shoot trap, plink hunt and collect guns and i just had my 17 birthday on 4-8 my favorite guns are my 338 win mag my 270 win and my 20 gauge side by side

How's everyone?

Came by this forum by fluke actually. I googled something and you guys popped up. Either way I love this place. Love the conversation, the information, and the general opinions.

I'm Dominic, I live in L.A. and am being processed for the police department in Arizona currently. I've already been talking to a few cops here giving me some heads up as to the academy out there, this place is just awesome. I'll be happy when I get out of Cali so I can start assembling some semblance of a real rifle collection, haha. The communists here won't let us do all that. We as gun owners have little to no rights in Cali, but unfortunately I'm not going to wait around for all that to change because the local government here has their heads to far up their butt to make any real intelligent decisions and these people just keep putting them back in office every election. No thanks.

Either way, good to meet everybody and I hope to be around for quite some time. I wish I knew about THR sooner.

Needing information......

My boyfriend has this Felix Saraketa over/under single trigger shotgun and I am trying to find out what it could be worth?

Proof mark and the importer was L. Moreno in Fl. The 20-76 means its a 20 guage with a 3 " chamber. The 110 kp/cme is the maximum pressure for the barrels.

So can anyone out there help me with this?

Angela:)

OK, let's see how this works...

I just joined because my oldest and best friend died last week and left his widow with a bunch of guns. I have a bunch of guns too, but now I've got about 60 more. She wants me to sell them off because she doesn't feel comfortable with all these desirable items in the house with all the meth freaks running around out in the boonies.

So I've been doing a lot of research on these various pieces. My first question for this forum is, how do you polish stainless steel? Some of these gats look like Bill took some 600 grit and went over a few places which now look hazy.

thanks, Gyrfliec

heynah!
that's what people in northeast PA say, i'm just trying to fit in. i'm alex, and i joined about a week ago. i only recently developed an interest in guns; for years, i was an "anti", due to being raised in NYC and having a martial artist's naivete about guns. i got over it. i bought my first legal handgun at the beginning of this year, a sw9ve (yes, the reviled sigma 9!), and so far, i've put about 1,000 rounds thru it. i now look at firearms and shooting like any other matial arts training; not only can it be a life saving skill, but it has meditative quality, and can provide personal fulfillment. anyway, hi.

I agree. I always feel better after going to the range. I think some of it has to do with disciplining myself to become better, learning to control my mind and body to improve accuracy. I think the focus required in target shooting is also therapeutic in a way. It allows me to clear my mind of anything else, and focus on the task at hand - that in and of itself is a great form of stress release.

Welcome to the forum! I also only got into shooting recently, about the same time as you. I purchased my first guns (Mosin-Nagant 91/30 and M44) at the beginning of January. They were a great set of guns to start out on: inexpensive, cool historic value, high-powered, cheap to shoot (surplus ammo runs about 10 cents/round when bought by the case), simple and reliable. Anyhow, good to have you here!

Newbie

Hey all,
My name is Gary and I'm from Southwestern Pa. and been into guns and hunting since I was a kid. I shoot regularly (pistol, rifle, trap and skeet) and I also reload ammo for all my guns. I recently acquired my PA CCW and I'm currently waiting on my Florida CCW.
Oh, I forgot, I'm also a packing.org refugee!
Site looks great!

Hello All:

Am an unabashed liberal gun-nut member of the NRA (talk about contradictions). Primarily interested in target shooting with small caliber rimfire rifles and pistols and longer range target shooting with .223 and 260 Remington, which doubles as my hunting rifle.

Current arsenal consists of:
Pistols - Browning Buckmark Target 5.5, CZ-52, Taurus SS Model 66 .357M.
Rifles - Remington 700 CBM SS in 260 Remington (deer & antelope), Winchester 1885 High Wall in Remington .223 (varmit & target), sporterized SKS (for heavy-cover deer & wild-hogs), CZ-453 in .17HMR, CZ-452 in .22LR and Remington 541-X in .22LR - all for targets and the occasional varmit.

Next buys: Probably a Beretta Tomcat for the bedside (smaller than the CZ/Taurus) and another .22LR for targets. Perhaps a BSA/Martini if I can find a good deal. But not married to anything at the moment.

Live in that gun-unfriendly state of NJ (they are probably so gun-unfriendly that they monitor the THR to seek out malefactors:D ). But, have two nearby ranges where I shoot that are pretty decent. One is 100 yards and the other is 600 yards. It ain't Albuquerque, but is all that I could ask for. Do all my hunting in the west. KS, TX, NM, CO and WY. Not so crowded out that way.

New Guy

Hey everyone...About me? Well I am into long range shooting. Havn't shot in any competitions yet but am currently working as a sniper in the Army. It seems like there are a lot of smart people on here so I am here to learn. I look forward to future discussions.

My name's Ryan. I'm 20 and currently getting into a degree at UNT, with a major in Drug Rehabilitation and a minor in Pharmacology, tentatively. I work for Jason's Deli as well as Harder Beat Magazine and a few other publications. I listen to all kinds of music, but with the long hair, beard and viking-ish features I tend to be a metalhead at heart.

Politically, I classify my self as a 'complete hardass'- pro-gun, pro-choice, anti-war, pro-pot legalization, anti-drug prohibition, and pro-super fun times. I've got my own set of beliefs, and have denounced my ties to Christianity.

I've only got a Kar98K, 1937 SS 12ga and a Norinco SKS, but I plan to buy more as money begins to show up in my wallet.

I love shooting, meeting new people, and meeting people cool enough to warrant not shooting upon meeting. I also like writing in really bizarre forms sometimes. For some reason.

Bigwill

Hi, I'm from Texas and started hunting in my twenties. Started out shooting shotguns, .22's, and even tried my hand my hand with a .50 cal. cap and ball, Sweet, and the Lord all mighty .44 Mag. Spent a few years searching for a good bolt action rifle-Winchester .270, Remington 1100 semi-auto. But now that Beretta PX4 Storm-.40 cal. is next on my list, sweet mercy. Just recently a family member experienced a break-in and I felt that a hand gun would be an added need in my home. I'm no expert but, I can hit what aim at. What I keep on my mind is from the Patriot movie, Mel Gibson told his sons "One Shot, One Kill". When I first entered the woods I had to learn all I know on my own. So I look forward to taking in the vast knowledge and info. of fellow members.

I live in Bakersfield, Ca, 35 yrs old. My name is Chris. I've been around guns ever since I can remember. My interests are more towards the old stuff, don't much like "plastic" guns. most everthing I own is pre 1960's. My boys ages 7 & 10 love shooting. I take them out to the range or the hills to shoot so I have to reload to keep them up on ammo. I need to get more time to shoot but between work & even more with scouts I don't have much time. I did go & get certified for rangemaster for our council so the boys can shoot bb guns at council events.

Im fairly new and just wanted to say this is a great forum
Its refreshing to find a forum where the moderators keep it under control
Great job guys !!

New guy here. I'm 28. I joined mostly because I like to read other user's comments on various firearms. For my potential purchases I'm primarily interested in handguns and shotguns for home defense and shooting at the firing range. I like the 100% no-lead bullets so I try to keep an eye out for new products and advancements in that area as well.

My opinion is that it would be good to have civilian legal 3-shot (or even 2-shot) burst SMGs (lower calibers, like 9mm rounds) that can fire bursts but not full auto. However, I realize this is extremely unlikely to happen.

Hi gun gurus.
I accidently found this sight by doing a monster crawler search on a S/W 990L in 40 caliber that I recently purchased.
I have also recently purchased a M/P 40 in Smith & Wesson.

I have recently renewed my CWP from South Carolina after allowing it to expire aprox. 10 years ago.

I am an adiv hunter mostly with long guns or bow.

Always nice to have a place to go to to find information about guns and gun issues.

Looking foward to being a part of your groupto learn or help others anyway that I can.
