What do you keep for bumps in the night

Between my dogs and the neighbors, I have a pretty good early warning system. It "goes off" I pull out my mossberg 500 w/pistol grip and 6 rounds of 00, along with my Taurus 92 9mm 15+1 on my hip. My wife has the cell phone is ready to call 911 if something happens.

.357/.38s in every room of the house with a Bianchi speed strip for each. These Smiths, Tari, and Rugers. Even when in the shower or on the pot- revlover within reach.

I keep a Model 500 12 ga with 00 and slugs along with my 1911A1 in the bedroom. I've got two dogs and an alarm as a wakeup. I'm partial to the 12ga. because a scattergun will do more damage faster.

I live in the burbs.

(Oh yeah, if the gang of roving zombies everyone keeps talking about shows up I've always got the WASR to keep them at bay :neener:)

Light-sleeping & territorial Black Lab, always a 1911, and a shottie. Oh, and Gold Bond medicated cream . . .

Awh nice animals :D If anyone comes by after hours at my place they will most definitely find our cute little 100lb lab/wolf mix who enjoys cuddling... just dont get close to anything he thinks is his (which is everything). Great early warning protection for me and my Glock 23 :D

i keep my Makarov next to my bed and a S&W model 19 on a shelf behind some books. For the zombies i keep my M-1 garand in the closet and about 600 rounds on en-blocs' in an ammo can next to it:neener:

I wish my dog was an early warning system. She only sounds the alarm about 20% of the time. Other than that, she just notices and stays quitet...but she's such a good dog and close to a family member I can't get rid of her. Maybe I'll get a puppy and train it to like it's "pack."

A S&W 5906 as a primary.
Beretta .32 as a backup in another spot.
MAB P-15 in the drawer underneath my left elbow right now.

Oh, and Lucy to give my intruders bad luck:

:D

You need to get a JRT (Jack Russell Terrier). They will bark if you pass gas.

A JRT is good, but my dog is not only gunshy but she's also fireworks shy, and shoutshy. I want to get another lab (she's 1/2 black lab) so when I go bird hunting, I don't have to use my kids to rustle up birds.

Then I'm doubly-blessed since my Son has one of these . . . a dog alarm & a redundant dog alarm.

I hear ya. Both of mine are gun shy. The little one even gets her feelings hurt if you raise your voice around her.

Still, they make excellent alarms-- even if they are little pampered princesses. When I get through with the home renovation I am in, I believe I am going to add a larger-breed male to the mix-- something like a German Shepherd-- to keep the girls in line and be the "teeth" of the program.

That's the theory, anyway. We would probably make a wuss out of a G. Shepherd, too.

Whatever I happen to grab at the time. Theres a couple three 870s around the house and a couple sidearms. Flashlights in every room. All the rest are stored in the safes.

My "early warning" system is a 65lb 1/2 Black Lab and 1/2 Australian Shepard mix. He hardly ever barks , but if he does there is definitely someone or something near by. He is a very good dog.

Beyond that I also generally have a Kimber 25th anniversary Custom handy an a Mossberg 500 near by.

Small ranch house on the edge of a quiet small town. Options abound, but my wife's .38 LS is most handy for either of us. For a serious animal/livestock problem, I've got my Mos. 500 w loaded with 000.

Beyond that, and things get uglier by degrees.

Why would you want just an alarm system (JRT) when you can have both alarm system/HD weapon (german shepherd)?

If I come home and my dog isn't at the door to greet me, I know that something dangerous is in the house, because he is dead.

If that isn't enough, I'll go with 20 rds of 9mm in my CZ75 SP01. If thats not enough its time for the AR 15, and if thats not enough tell my family I love them.

Because they entertain me. :) Seriously, JRT's are nutty little pups. Don't worry about the G. Shepherd though... it's in the works. To me, dogs are like potato chips-- you can't have just one.

So for the next few months, I'll have to go with the two JRT's and a "Forget the dog, beware of the owner" sign. hehe... :)

2 dogs, 5 cats, 6 ferrets, and 2 rats. To me animals are like guns; there is no such thing as 'enough'.
