Guys, I just got back from a gun shop that I have not visited for a long time and it seems that they have a really nice selection of 1911's ~drool~! They have a few models of STI's but I really liked the Detonics and the Sig C3, so what would you choose and why?

Oh and the prices are about the same approx $900-950ish.

I own a Sig GSR Revolution 1911...

Sig can't seem to get their heads out of their ...[somewhere]... and produce a bug-free 1911.

By default, for the money you are willing to spend, I'd say anything but a Sig.

I wish I just bought a Colt or Springer.

My SiG GSR Revolution STX runs great...SiG Customer service may need some work getting the SiG Line right but I would buy another...if yours doesn't run, they have a lifetime warranty (if you bought new) you can get it fixed...

Unfortunately, the spotty history of Detonics would probably sway me away from their product. I have fondled the C3 and really liked it; just wish it was in 10mm.

Spotty history? IIRC, Detonics has an impecable reputation for quality, correct me if I am wrong. This model that I'm considering is the new 9-11-01, not the Combat Master. An interesting name to a beatiful firearm. It is a full size 1911.

Might I suggest a Dan Wesson "bobtail" pistol. I just bought a 10mm version, and it is one sweet pistol. As nice and fit as well as I've ever seen. I suppose "custom" jobs might be better, but i can't really see how.

I have both but my Detonics is one of the originals and it works perfectly. I'd go Detonics.

You can get a Colt Gold Cup 70 series for less then $900.00 at randgfirearms.com Gary's great to deal with.
