Oh joy, will the antis learn something from this tale, or will they be calling for registration and training for nail guns?

----------------------------

Unknown why 77-year-old retired teacher would commit crime, officials say

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A 77-year-old man killed his wife and then himself with a commercial-grade nail gun, police said Tuesday.

Police said they don’t yet know why James B. Tompkinson, a retired teacher, would kill his 67-year-old wife, Susan.

A relative who went to their home Monday evening found them and called 911.

When police arrived, Susan Tompkinson was dead of head and chest trauma and her husband was badly injured. He died Tuesday morning.

Police Lt. Thomas Dellane said there was no history of police calls to the couple’s home.

sad

:rolleyes:I cant hear the antis now :Quick ban assault nail guns there a threat to society and the children."
I wonder if the man had an illness such as dementia. It certainly has alot of signs of being so. A sad and tragic event.:(

Perhaps there will be a call for licensing and registration of "commercial-grade" power or pneumatic tools for non-contractors. After all, what does a normal person need a nail gun that can shoot thirty nails without reloading for? You're telling me you need that kind of firepower for building?

I find "commercial-grade" to be the same kind of irrelevant addendum to the article as "high-capacity" or "assault weapon" is to gun articles: the victim in question would be just as dead if shot with a revolver or a Mosin-Nagant - or in this case, a $30 Ryobi nailer.

They always try to demonize the tool, rather than the perpetrator... or maybe I'm just overly thin-skinned tonight.

have you ever been to a Home Depot? You can buy nail guns with huge drum magazines capable of holding dozens and dozens of nails, with no background check!

Of course, those "constitutionally-respectful" weirdos will just say it's part of their right to keep and bear hammers, even though the foundation-building fathers couldn't have ever seen such technological advancements, and everyone knows that they meant only contractors and their construction workers need these high powered precision nail driving devices.

Seriously though, that's a terrible way to die. Very sad indeed.

We had to actaully rent a gun powder charged nail gun. We had to attach wood boards to a thick concrete foundation. The thing was essentailly a rifle that fired nails we got it no questions asked lmao. These things might be put into the same category as the .50 BMG sniper rifle nail guns.

ITS TIME TO STOP THE NAIL GUN VIOLENCE. WE NEED TO START THE TOMPKINSON CAMPAIGN AND THE MILLION ELDERLY VICTOMS MARCH.

Honestly what the hell is commercial grade supposed to mean? Contractors use nail guns for the same exact things us "do it yourself" types use them for which is working on our houses. Probably written by a liberal elitist who has never lifted a nail or hammer in thier life.

Those are pressure-safety. They won't fire unless they're pushed firmly down against the concrete, or they probably would be classified as firearms. Doesn't look like it'd be easy to bypass the pressure safety, unlike with nailguns... it's pretty fun lining the Gatorade jugs and Red Bull cans up on the nearest side of the trash bin at the end of the day and seeing who can knock 'em down from 100 feet :D

Old school would be to pound the nail into the forehead with a claw hammer. No less effective.Heck, you might not even need the nail if you work the hammer just right.

The first step is to ban commercial grade nail drivers and license and background checks for the rest of the nail drivers out there. After that will come a total ban on automatic nail drivers. Those who don't care about the law will resort to black market purchases of electric or pnuematic nail drivers. The rest of us will struggle along with manual powered nail drivers (the good old hammer) until they are banned. At this point, whether a person wants to use a nail driver for legitimat purposes or in a crime, homemade ones (a rock) will be used.
In the end, homemade nail drivers (rocks) will also be banned. Afterall, the very first murder in history was committed by one when Cain slew Able.

Sadest part is that the word "nail' will be dropped by the 'Brady Bunch' and another homicide/suicide will be added to their 'ammo'.

the most important thing is that we limit nail sales to ten nails at a time, once a month. I know it will now take 30,000 years to build a house, but the .06% of nail related violence that would be deverted is well worth the 99.94% of legal, law abiding nail users out there.

Anybody thinking this isn't actually gun related in any meaningful sense???

Thread lock in 3.....2.....1.....
