"They distribute Walther. Walther has a 1 year only waranty."
Maybe the salesman happened to grab a Walther box.

Thanks for the heads up and clarification on the warranty issue. When I mentioned the "life time" warranty to my friend at a LGS (his) the two sales guys slammed that statement immediately.

I really wasn't in the mood to dispute the issue with these guys since they had other facts wrong on their S&W knowledge and warranty issues weren't part of our mission. They pulled out one of the instruction books, pointed to the 1 year and I didn't take it to read it further to the guy I was with doing the shopping with.

Again thanks.

ranger58 - Nice collection, good pic's, thanks to your boy. So how do you like the Tucker? BTW, what cailber is that big red and chrome gun, is that one of them commie insults? Does it got da switch?

rdrancher - Good choice, last time I talked to him it was about three weeks wait, well worth it. After you get it broke-in you should be very happy with it. It took both of mine about two to three weeks to settle in.

I finally REJOINED, sort of. My first J-frame pre-dated the club, but I stupidly got rid of it. Today I redeemed myself and bought a 638. Lovin' it! I'll love it even more when I get the classic wood grips I ordered from CDNN.

SAG0282 - Welcome home. We're glad you finally got back to the basics. We will be awaiting your range report and pic's with those shiny new grips.

DAdams

The engine is a 454 small block Chevy that I worked on for a costumer, dart block and heads, on top is a manifold for a blower, last time I talked to him it was putting out over a 1000 hp., have been wearing the tucker IWB a Little bit so far so good, will be able to some more to day, A+ for the mika round nose.

SAG0282 - 638-3, very nice. Got your new grips already? Or did you order the diamond checkered ones? What is that IWB, how's it work for you?

Yeah, those are the grips I ordered, classic cocobolo from CDNN. The holster is a Galco, that actually works really very well for this weapon.

I almost covered my screen with early morning coffee. ;)

Very funny.

I have one in the family too but keep it in the closet. M&P340. There is a blacksheep in most families.

Ranger-
Nice work on the engine(s). I have an appreciation for the 60s and 70s machines. We had a 67 Chevelle with 396, Hurst, traction masters, cam, exhaust, (it would hardly idle, but sounded good) and slicks. Took them off during the winter.
Blue. It was a runner to be sure.

I don't own a S&W 642. I have owned a model 49 and model 38 for more than 30 years. I recently put the CT laser grip on the 49. I keep a pocket clip on the 38 put that is it. I use an IWB holster for the 49 due to the weight, but the airweight bodyguard rides in a pocket or is just cliped in the waistband. I have always prefered the bodyguard to the 642.

I like having the option to cock the hammer for long shots.

I have been looking in on this enormous thread from time to time. So now I guess it is finally time to contribute a few pictures...

I'll start off with my 642-2. It's showing some wear but gets carried a lot.

Next, a 342

And, a 317-2

442-2 saved from a gunshow

Well, after I found my NIB 442-1 I planned to take the -2 to a gunshow next weekend. But a close friends 22 yr old daughter is taking her CCW training next week so she is going to inherit the -2. I think it will be the perfect carry for her. She is going to take the training with one of my DAK SIG P239s because in Oklahoma you can only carry a revolver if you take the training with a revolver. If trained with an auto you can carry either. She has shot the 239 and is familiar with it. Now we are just trying to figure out how she will conceal even the 442 with tight blue jeans and bare mid-riff. Any ideas from some of the ladies out there would be appreciated.

Crossdraw/Driving Holster

Anyone use one of these and if so what are your thoughts.
I'll even take critiques from those just looking at it.
I'm even thinking it doesn't look bad for full time OWB...yeah I know, Mr. Pocket Carry is just looking, just thinking. ;)
I'm more interested in it as a OWB cross draw worn with shirt out or under a jacket.

Carry your gun while driving in the most comfortable, convenient way, while still allowing the fastest draw possible.

The Model 17 is a versatile driving/crossdraw holster. When driving, it positions your gun for instant access yet will not interfere with seat belt function. When worn with an outer garment, your gun will be completely concealed.
Constructed of waterproof closed-cell foam padding for a comfortable carry and to protect gun from moisture. Lined on both sides with rugged Cordura® nylon for durability and a smooth, fast draw. Smooth nylon webbing along the entire inside length of the holster protects your gun’s sights and helps maintain the holster’s shape for easier re-holstering.
Quick-release thumb break secures your gun in the holster. Designed for full combat grip. A flap with Velcro wraps around the belt to hold the holster in place. Holster can be easily attached or removed without having to remove your belt. Fits belts up to 1¾ inches. Color: Black. Made in the USA.

jcord - Welcome to the club. Glad to have you with us. Sounds like you have a system that works well for you. How about some pic's of those old timers.

wad - Welcome to you. Great pic's and a great collection. I have a couple of questions for you. How do those Bantam's compare to the standard boot grips? What is the difference in felt recoil between the 317 and the 351 and if you could only have one, what one would you pick?

DA - I like it, a crossdraw can be very fast, and it would be a great way to carry a BU on the weak side and they conceal well. It is good to be able to have some adjustment available, I don't know if this one offers much, I had a velcro attached holster once and it did not stay put very well but this looks like a better design than my old one. I don't care for a snap retension strap either, a piece of good quality elastic is better IMO as you can pull through without unsnaping anything, But it is harder to reholster. This one looks like it might be wotht a try.

g'man Where is grandma and grandpa?
Funny I was going to add a line about them. Grampa is a 500 and Grandma is a 460. :p
I've spent my self limited gun allowance and have imposed a gun moratorium :(for 3-4 months until I can get my woman a nice pair of sparliky 2Kt. 4Kt. TW, VS I, G-H clarity earings.:) In all fairness she gets the same amount I spent on guns for her own collection. So far this year I've spent upwards of $15,000 on firearms :what: & probably another $5,000 on ammo  and supplies so I don't expect Grandma & Grandpa to visit until the holidays :D
