I just acquired an RCBS Rock Chucker press, with some RCBS dies in 6.5x55 Swede, I have the model 96 mauser that uses the cartridge. I was just wondering if this was a good press, as I saw it mentioned in a post inquiring about buying a Dillon. I already load (very, very limited quantity) with an RCBS press, but I don't know the model. I have found their quality to be great so far, just wanted to know if this model was good or not. Thanks!

RCBS makes very good equipment and so does Dillon.

The Rock Chucker is a single stage press. I use it for sizing brass and some odd calibers. The rest get loaded on the Dillon 550B only because it's faster.

The rock chucker is the original single stage O frame reloading press that all the other makers have copied. You know what they say about the sincerest form of flattery! :D

The 'chucker is *burly*. It's not fast but it will last a lifetime.

I mostly load on a dillon 550 but also have an RC for misc tasks. Both are good presses with a history of happy users.

Sweet. Just making sure it was worth getting. Thanks for the feedback everybody. I will be loading .223, 220 Swift, 25-06, 6.5x55 Swede, 7mm Rem Mag, .338 Win Mag and maybe some others. I know single stage presses are slow, but I don't load in volume, just enough to go hunting every once in awhile. I usually only turn out batches of 40 or so, to sight in and hunt with.

I've cranked out many thousands of .357 magnum; .44 magnum; 7mm TC/u; .30-'06; .223 and others from my Rock Chucker since 1978.

Not ONE failure or hiccup.

If you want to buy a ONE TIME purchase machine. . . the Rock Chucker is it.

presspuller is spot on:
Your grandkids will not wear out that press.

I bought my Rock Chucker in 1971, I've loaded over 200K rounds with it so far. The only thing I've replaced was the bushing in the top of the press.

I'm on my 2nd RockCrusher. The first one was stolen several years ago. While I do most of my re;oading with a couple of Dillon 550's, The Rock is still going strong. I use it for working up small ammouts of new loads & for callibers that I don't shoot a lot of.
