yea i saw that too, and that was my thought as well. there was a second where they all look at it and nothing is said, and then the show just goes on without another word. it was a good show too.

That was a sweet setup he had on. I love how he drives from his ranch in the Tetons and into Vegas in his old Power Wagon. My cousin had one of those... absolutely no suspension. I dunno, for a billionaire you'd think he'd maybe fly to Vegas? That Tom Selleck is one tough hombre. My wife loves that show... I laugh all the way through it. "Anything can happen."

Tom Selleck is the real deal when it comes to shooting knowledge. He's a serious collector, and the guns in his flicks are always PERFECT for period and place.

I really enjoyed his use of a Lewis gun in "High Road to China"; one of my favorite full auto weapons, along with the BAR. That also reminds me of "The Sand Pebbles" with Steve McQueen, where they used both of them quite extensively, on the gunboat, coincidentally, also set in China.

What scene is it in? i.e. is it when he drives up in the green truck in bluejeans and a denim shirt? late? early?
If you mean the 1911, it's about half-way through when he calls a meeting.

Las Vegas's stock just went way up as far as I'm concerned. It was a good show before. Now, however, I won't miss one, as one of my favorite actors is aboard.

Ha okay, I see it. A scene starts and the stag grips of gun takes up about half the screen then the camera zooms back and you see it on his hip, very beginning of 'chapter nine'

Thing is, in chapter seven, after his arrival, he is standing in the casino floor, bluejeans, boots, blue shirt, cream colored jacket. It appears to me that he is carring there too as his jacket hangs a little bit farther from his body there

threefeathers: I agree, although i'm a pretty big James Caan fan also.

I'm also a James Caan fan. I heard they had to cut the showws budget, and his salary was a bit on the high side.

In my opinion, they couldn't have gotten a better replacement in Tom Selleck.

If we get a really closeup view of the 1911 T.S. is using in that series, we'll see that it is a Gunsite gun.

I don't give a hoot about the other characters in Las Vegas, but I sure do like Tom Selleck's character. Hope this doesn't mean no more Jesse Stone TV movies and the questions about his carry .45 in them.

"Las Vegas" has been one of my guilty pleasures for a while. Darned if I know why I keep watching it but probably because it doesn't even PRETEND to be a serious show.

Noticed the 1911 and said "hey, now that's pretty darn cool!" because he's playing a rich guy who doesn't just surround himself with gorillas :)

I recorded it on my DVR and happened to watch it the same night I watched the season opener for Shark. Los Vegas has Tom Selleck openly carrying a 1911. That was cool. Shark had them fish a murder weapon out of a lake and call it an "assault knife." That was a new low. Some contrast.

I'm with everyone here Tom Selleck's one of my favorite actors. I liked him in Magnum P.I. and in the Jesse Stone series. I hope he keeps makeing the Jesse Stone shows as well as doing Vegas.

Thomas Magnum/TS/1911a1 .45acp

Tom Selleck is on the board of the NRA and is very active in pro-gun politics, ;). He is also a National Guard veteran. Selleck's Thomas Magnum character had a basic 1911a1 .45acp as his main sidearm in the 1980s hit series; Magnum PI. Magnum was a US Navy SEAL/ONI officer and had his .45 in many of the shows. In one scene, Magnum put his 1911a1 pistol in the side of his cowboy boot,. But then again, Selleck is 6'04" so it may work for him.

PS: Tom Selleck and I are from VA...:D.
PPS: Tom Selleck went to high school with Magnum PI's music theme composer; Mike Lupo. ;)
