What is the latest CZ model that would stand shoulder to shoulder to Glock HK SIG and SW?

Beretta 92/96 series

Tried and true design
terrific workmanship at it's price point
great slide to frame tolerances - not sloppy like some brands
a "sexy" design
parts can be purchased easily through Beretta USA
cheaper magazines than most
digests most all ammo types, which is important!
for me- nearly perfect ergonomics

i'd go one step further, and get the Inox (stainless slide and barrel) version. All the Beretta benefits, plus much better corrosion resistance and a beautiful weapon.

I don't believe I can pick a "best" among my collection. I love my P226, P239, P228, but I also like my P99 and M&P.

The best gun I own is the one I have on me when it's needed.

1)HK P2000 LEM - best (& adj.) ergonomics, metal sights, huge extractor, full case support, 100% reliable, ambi slide release, ambi mag release, sturdy steel mags, consistent medium pull trigger, hi-quality, well finished/protected steel components, recoil bushing/engineering, a real disconnector, accurate, very good shooter even in .40

2)Walther P99 QA - great (&adj.) ergonomics, adj sights, huge extractor, great case support, 100% reliable, consistent short & light trigger, ambi mag release, decent metal mags, good metal finish, unobtrusive decocker, easy/safe diassembly, good shooter in 9mm, vg quality, accurate, compact available, great shooter in 9mm

3) Beretta M9/92F - great duty gun, huge, 100% reliable, very safe design, no recoil, accurate, I still have 15 round mags (which also work in my CX4 Storm)

Best is means different to different people. If you want reliable:

Sig P226. Have had mine since 1991 and have put 10,000+ rounds and can say with a straight face that it has worked without a SINGLE jam or malfunction.

If you want the most accurate:

My HK P7M8 an P7PSP are always listed as one of the most accurate guns.

If you want reliable, accurate, bad ass and rare:

My HK Mark 23 is hard to beat:)

Glock 19

Here is my Glock 19 with 17rd magazine.

I use G26 usually, but when I want to use extended mag like 17 or 31, I prefer G19, especially in winter when I can wear it under coat.

Honestly, the 1911 platform.

No other platform has been copied as much as the 1911, and almost every manufacturer has their version of it. With that, companies are still jumping on the bandwagon.

Then, we have race gun 1911, tactical 1911, classy 1911, baby 1911, longslide 1911, bullseye 1911, custom shop 1911, shake and bake 1911, betty crocker 1911 etc...

You think it, it's been done... about 10 thousand times. And it's still the new fangled thing.

Lastly. Can't beat the 1911 in terms of trigger, looks, and overall feel. :D

BTW, I picked a 2nd Makarov (w/no magazine) on AuctionArms for $120. The guy said it needed work, a firing pin spring. Well, my first one had no finishing nail spring so I snapped it up. It worked just fine. I ordered a mag and I'm going to give it to my father when the mag comes.

Maks don't have firing pin springs, so it doesn't need one. The firing pin just floats in its channel. I'll have to remember the finishing nail trick, for if/when I run out of firing pins.

Ske1etor you are using 9mm's signature yet voting 45?

Or your 1911a1 is in 9mm Parabellum?

a good defense pistol should not have any manual safeties. only a grip or glock style trigger safety comfortable in the hand, be able to hold in a comfortable firing position with eyes closed and open them and you should be looking down the sights. a time trusted caliber strong enough to stop someone but not too strong that the shooter shoots once and throws it in a nightstand. and the owner should practice reloads, immediate action drills. and shoot at least twice a month and shoot at least 50 rounds each time

With that being said, I would rather carry my Sig P232 "concealed" than I would any compact Glock simply because they are so bulky.

I have several favorites, each on earning that distinction over the years and alot of rounds. Asking me which is my favorite is like asking a mom which kid she loves the most! :scrutiny:

Defensive pistol? M1911A1, bar none. My current carry gun is a Kimber MKI Classic.

Small game, plinking and target shooting? Colt Woodsman. Mine was made in 1938 and mounts after market Micro sights.

Defensive Revolver? Almost any Colt or S&W .357, plus the Ruger SP 101.
