What we need to do here is invent a new caliber...

The Highish Road Non-Tactical Supply Co. is proud to introduce...
...a brand new caliber for caring, sensitive shooters!
The 8.75mm Friendly

Say goodbye to those icky, military-inspired calibers we've been stuck with for decades!
A new era of Friendly competition and self defense has arrived.

All 8.75mm Friendly cartridges are available with
Smiley Point bullets, or our super-safe padded tips.

Joe from Seattle, Wa states: "I was just walking along when a big ol' 7 foot crackhead threatened to cut my throat for some money for a crack rock. Thank goodness I had my new, hot-pink 8.75mm Friendly in my pocket. I pulled it out and warned him, but he kept comming. I had no choice but to unload my pistol on him. Golly-gee, did that get his attention! Those Smiley Points just tickled him silly! He was still laughing when the cops arrived! Afterwards, the 7 foot crackhead, the cops, and myself all went to a little brew pub around the corner for a couple apricot beers."

The 8.75mm Friendly is only available from The Highish Road Non-Tactical,
and compatible with a wide range of Hot Pink 4-shot, 2" snub nose revolvers.

Ummm ....

Stopping the threat is Primary ... that's why I chose .44 mag. and would have picked 12 gauge if it'd been listed.

What does or does not happen in Court is, at the time of the shooting. decidedly a secondary issue, about on a par with which tie to wear to your arraignment.

Interesting to get various folks views on the topic, but IMHO, what might happen in a court room if there were a shooting would be an extremly poor basis on which to select a self defense weapon.

Hopefully we would all agree on that.

Regards,
:)

LE Agencies hereabouts use .45ACP, anything equivalent or smaller should be defensible.

Don't followup shots look bad to a jury?
Personally I'd look for cases where someone was sent up the river for it before I got worried about it. I don't see 2 shots getting someone sent up the river for murder and 1 shot being a justifiable homicide as much more than another of the imaged gun owner situations.

I'm sorry. This is the dumbest thread ever.

If you're worried about the jury or DA convicting you over the cartridge you used to legally defend yourself, you have far more problems than defending an attack. Get some emtotional help, a good lawyer, or just don't carry.

Indeed. Some of the things people worry about amaze me.

Suggestion to the worry-warts: Live your life. If you need to defend yourself, do so and deal with picking up any pieces later. It's really all you can do.

I responded 9mm however, to a large extent it doesn't matter. If you and your lawyer can articulate (make the jury believe) that you only used enough force to abate a threat to your life then it shouldn't matter.

If one were to shoot someone 10 times with a 9mm and was able to discribe in great detail how they kept on coming after the 1st, third, ... etc. shot then it doesn't matter that you shot them 10 times.

On the other hand if you shoot a person once as he is fleeing your house, you might just have a problem.
