i have a chance to get a satin nickel, series 80. 45acp colt1911 with fixed sights, in good condition that use to belong to a cop that didnt fire it much for $700!
the damn thing caught my eye and now the cash is burning a hole in my pocket! it doesnt come with anything not even a case or lock, just the gun and 1 clip!
should i get it or just get me a kimber?
dont plan on competing but accuracy is important to me.
thanks for your imput!!!

Oye Vato:

Colts are good 1911s. The nickle finish will be far more durable than blued steel. If the pistol is in good condition, and depending on the year of manufacture, number of rounds, etc, then $700.00 might be a good value.

Let me ask, is the entire pistol nickle, or only the receiver (frame)?

doc, the guy says it got bout 2-3 boxes though it and yes it is all nickel in just about mint condition!
also can i get different sights put on them? just wondering!

Wow, low round-count.

Yes, you can change the sights. But, have a gunsmith do that.

Great that it is all nickle. Given that a new series 80, in blued steel, costs around $950.00, I'd say you found a deal!

hey big44, thats nice!! is she accurate at 25 and beyond? is so how far? the one im lookin at has the wood colored grip and the shine from it almost looks like gold all shiny and sparkly. thats what hooked me and now i feel it reeling me in !!!help!!! i must have it!

ok gotta go take my medication!!!

Sounds like a fair to very good price on a quality gun. I have two blue Series 80 Colts and both are top notch. (.45 & .38 Super)

Mine are both range guns and have the FPS removed, but the FPS would not stop me if I wanted it.

Most definitely buy that Colt. You won't come across that kind of pistol, in that condition, and with that particular finish, at that price, ever again.

well i went back there today and checked it out completely and i did find some flaws like some pitting and several light scratched and when i shook it it was tight but not tight enough to get me to hand over the cash! it aslo looked like there was more then 2-3 boxes put though it. so i looked around some more and found a new beretta model92el nra95 9mm for $750.00!! so i fork over the cash and got me a 9!! but do i shoot it are put it away in a display case?

well,:uhoh: im regretting my choice! :banghead:
if i shoot the thing ill never get what i got in to it and ill have to keep it forever! which aint a bad thing, i guess, add it to the collection!! but it leave me in the same position i was in before i bought the thing! needing a plinkin toy!!
i still have a chance to get a almost new, with box and paperwork, colt 1911 in the nickle, but not satin, and i believe its a defender, also with fixed sights, with only a couple minor blemishes. but this ones $800.
what are the good and bad point on these?
or should i save some cash and get something else?

Shoulda got the 1911..

Did you shake the 1911 with a magazine in or no? Most I've handled have had a little play without a magazine in, but with they are snug as a bug.
