He was at the Nations Gunshow in Chantilly Virginia. He made a speech talking about his case and the need for everyone to vote so that their voice gets heard. I was standing there listening to him talk and when he was done he approached me with an outstretched hand and introduced himself. I told him that I was one of his many supporters and thanked him for all of his hard work. He was a very nice guy and again told me how necessary for us all to vote in the upcoming election. Just thought I would share my story. It was really cool to meet him, almost like meeting a celebrity.

OK-Who is Dick Heller?

You have 912 posts here?

Seriously. I don't mean to poke fun at you, but have you been living under a rock?

DC v. Heller. The most important 2a, RKBA supreme court case in our lifetimes?

Check wikipedia or google for more info.

Wow this thread is off to a bad start... Lets switch gears.
Thats excellent, in fact I would say you DID meet a celebrity. Not your average kind of course, this one could defend himself against a heard of gazell or hornytoads, or plastic spoons....or.........

Condescension is a bit much isn't it?

This is a HUGE case for gun rights and anyone who gives a damn for the constitution and gun laws should be paying attention, especially with the anti's running for pres.

I mean this case isn't quite going to be Brown V board of Ed or Roe V Wade....but it will be damn close!!!

I got to meet Robert Levy (google Robert Levy CATO institute) last year and hear him speak. We are in good hands!!!

Congrats on meeting Mr Heller,,, what a long trip it has been so far, just to get where he/we is/are...

Certainly a drawn out, slow and grinding fight... Fingers are triple crossed on the SCOTUS ruling.

Mr Heller deserves a big thanks from all of us gun owners!

I heard him speak last night too over the PA at the gun show and I was surprised at how long the fight to overturn the law has been going on. Years and years of struggle before any news was available on the general media. He(Heller) has made a huge personal investment.

Hey, that is WAY cool and we all owe him a huge debt of gratitude for bringing a challenge against anti-gun laws. While the rest of tap out angry forum posts and preach to the choir, he is out changing the world. CUDOS to him - you have met a great man and I am envious (in the best sense) of your meeting him.

+1

I met Dick Heller today... Umm... ya cool ...for sure

Yea, it IS cool. The man is doing a great thing. Let's hear that same snark when YOU do something as huge as that man is doing. He's a security guard, for Christ's sake! He's not some million-dollar bigshot out for some facetime. This case has made him a hugely public figure, and the enemy of many organizations (including his employers).

Show some respect.

I'm sorry, I realize that you're new here - but with that sort of attitude for the things and people that are so singularly important to the politics (and passions) of American gun owners, I wonder how long you'll last.

He is the plaintiff in D.C. v. Heller the case that is named after him.

The man will is and will forever be the name of the 2nd Amendment, no matter how it turns out.

And he's still polite and gracious.

Especially if it goes well for us, people will know the name D.C. v. Heller.

For us, it's bigger then Roe v. Wade.

We need a new Holiday! I propose Dick Heller day, we can celebrate it the day the SCOTUS ruling comes down.

All in favor?? Say Aye

Pictures say 1000 words, this is an associate of mine.

As a fellow Security Officer, I'm proud to say he has single-handedly nudged the common perception of S/O's back toward respectability. I have to live with some idiotic gun laws where I work, I can't IMAGINE the hoops he's had to jump through in DC. When I get off work I take off my 38 and put on a 45, when he gets off work he has to lock his gun up at work, and go home unarmed through some of the worst areas in the NATION. God bless him and his legal team for taking on the bastions of stupidity, elistism, and arrogance!

Maybe the day the ruling is handed down will become a gun-owner holiday in the years to come. I'd be happy to go to the range and celebrate Heller Day every June!

I think it would be pretty cool to meet someone who is playing a pretty important role in 2nd amendment rights.
