Despite all the bashing on UPS and FedEx,I just want to say that the UPS shipping hub in Bethalto IL has never given me a problem shipping ammo. Of course I have it packed up and labeled appropriately. They've always done me right, and I let them know too. I really appreciate it.

That is all. They're not all evil minions of Obama.

I think most of the stink with UPS is through their UPS 'Stores'. The one near me has a prominent sign taped to the counter saying any firearm related items must be shipped through their hub...20 miles away.

I have had to call customer service twice to get my ammo shipped from Bethalto.

It was the same employee both times. The second call was a conference call between customer service, The mgr in Bethalto and myself.

The employee lost her temper and stated her anti second amendment stance. She no longer works the counter and now slings packages in the back.

I really appreciate it.

Lets all thank everyone for doing the job they're paid to do and doing it correctly.

After all we have become a nation of morons.

Obviously this individual was not a good "fit" for the position. Sounds like they dealt with it.

Why not? I have to drive almost 45 minutes to get there,so I'm glad they know the rules and don't give me any hassle.

I build homes, and I sure appreciate it when someone tells me I'm doing a good job.

My mail box guy will ship anything that's legal.
If you're shipping to an FFL he wants to see a copy of the FFL.
Shipping to a manufacturer? He wants a print out of the warranty centers mailing address.
But after that, ship away

i had a shipment of ammo that got on the wrong truck and 'disappeared' as far as tracking went, as it showed loaded on a different truck but never offloadeded. It did eventually get to me, but took a lot of effort and calling around.

I recently shipped some ammo to a friend via UPS. I had to schlep it to a hub instead of using the UPS Store 2 miles from my door, but aside from that I had no problems sending the shipment off.

However, the intended recipient received a box that had been opened and resealed, using a different kind of tape than what I use, and the shipment was short about two boxes of .45 ACP. UPS is "investigating." I filed the report about ten days ago and I haven't heard from them since.

I haven't had trouble with UPS. The only issue I have had is watching shipments on the tracking web site that hit Dallas, then go to some suburb town of Dallas, back to Dallas, then move on down to Houston and then to me. I have seen that happen twice. Weird.

I ordered ammo from FedEx. They actually left it with a neighbor to get a signature. I was floored that they actually tried to get a signature.

USPS has delivered priority mail packages to an entirely different neighborhood. I heard my doorbell ring and a nice lady was dropping it off.

The UPS hub in Charlottesville, VA was always a pleasure to ship stuff out of. Haven't had any experiences in Florida yet.

Feedthehogs, you are so right. We have become accustomed to poor service and idiots in key positions dealing with the public. It's a surprise when things go as they should. Go figure...

UPS pisses me off because they throw my ammo over the front gate (and it is a pretty high gate) so it comes crashing down on the driveway.

I've reported it time and time again and still nothing.

Since the guy isn't having me sign for it either, I figure the next time he does it, I'm just going to claim it never arrived. If I do that a few times, I figure he'll get fired for suspicion of stealing packages.

(no, I'm not really going to do this - but I'm tempted).

Ammo is heavy, so the package must be somewhat mangled after being dumped over a fence. I'd suggest the next few times it happens you just rough up the package a bit more, then file a claim saying the package arrived damaged and that you decline to accept it because you can't be sure none of the "product" has been damaged and might be unsafe.

yes, they do a great job of shipping ammo! but what gets me is their hazmat surcharge for gun powder and / or primers. i guess, MAYBE i could see it for primes, as if a forklift ran over a box it MIGHT get a little exciting, but powder?? unless there is a decent fire, what is the deal? it's not like this stuff is nitroglycerin! if you drop it, it will not "explode" it is just a way to rip us off, imo.

This is actually official policy because "The UPS Store" locations are franchises that basically license the name rather than actually being owned and operated by UPS employees.

The UPS driver always mentions the weight of the carton. A 1,000 rounds of .45 ACP is heavy. Then he justs says, "You must shoot a lot!"

At first he would only bring the paper work for signing and then go get the ammo, but now he'll bring both on his first trip.

The UPS driver always appreciates that I meet him at the truck's door when he is delivering those 1,200 round cases of Russian 7.62X54R. :D

I've never had a problem with them shipping ammo to me. They have delivered a pistol to the wrong address twice now...

cheese,

"UPS pisses me off because they throw my ammo over the front gate (and it is a pretty high gate) so it comes crashing down on the driveway.

I have the exact same gripe about United Parcel Smashers that you do.

In a recent shipment of ammunition that I received (only four 50 rounds boxes, so it wasn't that heavy) it looked as if someone decided to test the burst rating of it causing the cardboard ammunition boxes to split open inside of it and spill the ammunition everywhere.

When I contacted the "goofs" at United Parcel Smashers, I was told that they consider ammunition to "unbreakable" and my concerns were dismissed out of hand and after asking me if any of the ammunition had been lost from the package, to which I responded 'no', the buffoon than asked me, "So why are yuh callin', yuh got all yer stuff."

Afraid that there is no escape, we are stuck with these 'common carriers' with no other alternative in sight.

Whaddya gonna do?
:)

I have a gate too, but the UPS driver has the code to open it. Brings it right to the house, great service. Of course he gets a nice "card" at Christmas time.
