I'm guessing less than 1% of the population knows it is happening.

They will if soldiers in helmets or police start knocking on doors with confiscation orders...

The above example is extreme,,, or is it? :scrutiny:

I think we'll get a 5-4 decision in favor of the individual right, however, I don't think they will define that right, as in what type of weapons are protected. This will open the door for the anti's to launch legal actions to reduce our "individual right" to single shot 22's.:eek::barf::fire: The anti's are scumbags and this is exactly what will happen, prepare for a long, nasty, legal fight to define our "individual right".

Let's hope the SCOTUS is like a sporting event. The refs (5 justices) made two really bad calls (affording terrorists civil rights formerly reserved for U.S. citizens, striking down Louisiana death penalty for child rapists) and now need to do a make-up call.

Ok I couldn't resist, forgive the bad humor!

'Twas the night before Heller, when all through the house

Not a pistol was stirring, not even a mouse (gun);

The rifles were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that Scalia soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of targets danced in their heads;

Mamma with her AR, and I with a snap-cap,

Had just settled down for a long summer’s nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the lawn yet to mow,

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But Chief Justice Roberts, and eight more there were here,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it could be a 7-2 pick.

More rapid than desert eagles they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Thomas! now, Ginsburg! now, Stevens and Breyer!

On, Alito! on Souter! on, Kennedy and Scalia!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now vote away! vote away! vote away all!"

As dry fire that precedes the real ammo fly,

They met Mayor Fenty, to his restrictions said goodbye,

So up to the court the SCOTUS they flew,

With the sleigh full of rights, and RKBA too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the chimney Scalia came with a bound.

He was dressed all in camo, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of rights he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And killed most gun restrictions; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew out of DC like a missile.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Merry Gun Rights to all, and to all a good-night."

Joe Cool,that was cool!:cool:
Thank you for helping to relieve the tension.
With Brown vs Board of Education(1954),and Roe vs Wade(1973),I think this decision tomorrow is the most important of my lifetime.

I hope you're right.

I still have to wait and see what will happen. Irregardless of the decision, there will be more litigation in the future to flesh out (hopefully) tomorrow's decision.

THR member El Tejon - an actual lawyer - predicts we will be able to legally buy machine guns tomorrow afternoon

I am a simple man with simple needs. A single Bizon in 9x18mm will be fine.

Here's to a brave new world, June 26th, 2008.

Heh. To legally "be able" is a pretty far cry from the actuality. We'll see I guess.

If and when they overturn those bogus class III laws, I may very well sell my car (I wasn't getting much use out of it anyway, wanted to get a motorcycle a bit later due to fuel efficiency), and along with the money I'll get from dedicating myself to working no less than three jobs (wasn't doing anything else useful with my time) get the following...

M-240
M-249
M-203 (at least two or three, along with a few hundred grenades each)
M-16A2 (at least two of these)
M4A3 (at least two of these)
MP5KPDW
MP5A3
RPG-7 (at least two of these, with a few dozen rockets per launcher)
RPG-29 (at least two or three of these, with a few dozen rockets each)
LAW (at least a half-dozen of these)
AT-4 (maybe two or three)
Browning M2 (at least one)
AKS-74U (at least one of these)

Does anybody know of one store that carries all of those items? Some sort of super Wal-Mart but for weapons?

I am all in favor of hanging child rapists... However, as for the bit about "terrorists" just because you are called a "terrorist" and arrested for being one, does not make you a terrorist. Proper trials to determine what sort of combat status or terrorist status those men happened to fall under, were never held.

They should have the same rights as foreigners/tourists arrested in the United States.

Yeah, EOTechRulesAll, a nice full-auto without the huge tax would be nice to obtain for the range.

Of course, from what I have seen on some of the gun auction sites, full-autos sell for multiple $1000s of dollars.

If they remove the 1986 FOPA then anybody who can obtain a "normal" firearm will be able to purchase a full-auto weapon from any decent manufacturer (some would probably prohibit sales to civilians as part of company policy) at the price at which the government and law enforcement agencies obtain them (perhaps a bit higher due to quantity discounts not being applicable).

But there is absolutely no reason why an MP-5 should cost $20,000 dollars come Monday if come 10:00 am today (Thursday) the Supreme Court strikes down the Hughes provisions of the 1986 FOPA along with the 1934 NFA (although the 1934 NFA is largely irrelevant in terms of the supply/availability/price of full-auto weapons). The price would most likely drop to less than $1,500 dollars.

Any market stall in Baghdad...

Maybe get the import restrictions lifted while we're at it.

Hmm. I just (re)moved to Tennessee, got my license less than a week ago. Need to check up on the gun laws to see if I could purchase one tomorrow, but I suspect there's a longer residency reqmt

timothy

I think if Heller goes the way we want you won't have to wory about a residency requirement.

I was saving my holiday money for my annual holiday lights display since this year at the rate things are going, the electric bill for the display will be twice what it was last year (last year for the light display alone, it cost $1k in electricity - add in regular electricity expenses and the total bill was over $1700 for December)...

BUT - if today is a win, I'll try to find a way to stretch the holiday budget to cover lighting up the sky on the 4th too. :)

Oh yeah, also more about this "Heller" flick. I just remembered something. It has something to do with a puzzle box opening the gates to hell. ;)

(of course the joke is that I'm referring to the Hellraiser series, which if you haven't seen, you should at least see Hellraiser 1 and 2... maybe 3..... there's 8 of them, but the other 5 aren't as good as 1 and 2; however 3 is better than the other 5 but not as good as 1 and 2..... and yes, they are filming a remake of Hellraiser 1.

Ouch, $700/month on electric? We usually come in under £30 between the 4 of us... and that's with the internet router and modem on 24/7.
Where he lives in his 5000 square foot McMansion, air conditioning is not a luxury, even in the winter.
